Friends of Autoshite,

I have my Sprinter to get rid of - I've got another wagon for work now and need it gone. I thought I may as well try on here but don't worry I won't get the gas axe out if someone doesn't buy it by 23:59 hours tonight.

2002, 311CDi, 193k on it, alloy bed with winch and ramps. You've got about 1500kg to play with payload wise. Usual Sprinter grot around the windscreen but generally pretty tidy. 4 good tyres, spare nicked (!). Short test - March - taxed till May.

The biggest problem is I think it's got HGF... it has never overheated, but did run dry when I had a hose go back in Oct. It was fine for ages but in the last month has been losing water. There's a fuel leak from somewhere on top of the engine; when I took the cover off to investigate, it had obviously been leaking for a while and rotted the soundproofing from under the plastic cover. Lovely. I replaced the spill lines from the injectors but there's still a leak from somewhere and when the engine gets warm the congealed gunk on top of the engine smells horrible. Few electrical probs too - fan blower and horn don't work.

I don't have the motivation to do a Bo11ox and attempt to fix it myself, and it was cheaper for me to buy another truck as I have been mega busy with the tat-shifting lately and simply could not afford to let people down.

I put it on eBay a couple of times and just got messers.

It "owes" me a lot in terms of initial investment - but it doesn't really as I've earned well out of it, it's been all over the country and N.I with only one major problem (that blown hose). It reached £2400 on the bay so make me an offer. You could do a bit of bidding about on Shiply et all or just use it private for your own stuff - non hire and reward insurance is much cheaper.

This has to be the Autoshite Klub Company vehicle. I'll chip in £20 .

1500kg payload is actually very good, as it means it will carry pretty much any modern car, like Mondeos and shit.

I'd love it but can't get anywhere near that sort of money at the moment, sadly. Out of interest does it have slideaway ramps and what make of winch does it have? Cheers

Good point Billy - it does have slideaways, I will fix the carrier with the hot blue flame glue gun before it goes as it snapped and I've just put the ramps on the bed for the mo. The winch is a T max so nowt special bit it has done the job and I put a new wire rope on it in October.

Slide away ramps are a massive bonus, having spent months with my first truck piss-arsing about strapping the ramps on underneath low cars etc, the next truck I had was a God send.

I know it sounds like the kind of bollocks some ebay scam artist would say, but these really are money making machines. Used wisely (i.e for your own benefit as well as recovery work for others) I would seriously expect this truck to pay for itself within a fortnight if you're clever and hard working.

I'd LOVE this! SWMBO would definitely not approve however!

Whats the deal with driving these on a "normal" lisence?

Location?  I know a little while ago Mikeknight's company was after a recovery vehicle and this might do the trick.  It'd certainly handle little Alfas and the like easily enough.

Just do it!

No tacho needed (I think this is 3.5T) so ordinary driving licence.

Kev, that might have been useful for Andrew but not sure about the LEZ bollocks and the fact that he has had to sell the kidneys of all of the people he knows re: the living van.

One big advantage for a flatbed - and an argument to put to SWMBO - is that two vehicles need only one space.

Yep, it's a 3.5 tonner so can be driven on a car licence, you'd only need a tacho if you towed with it and even then if it's not for hire or reward you are OK.

I did look at just swapping the engine out, 311 lumps seem to go for around £800 upwards.

Ken - it is LEZ OK !

Walker Midgley will insure it for private use for £263 a year.

Vulgalour pointed me this way, unfortunately I'll have to pass. Simply not enough time to put right the things that need doing on it, as I'm working by myself at the moment doing two cars at once (GT6 and Alfa Spider Kammtail). No room in the workshop either, even with just the front poking in the door.
