outlaw118 Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Right, after the failure of the MoT, Puglet is being replaced by summat newer, shinier and probably still a bit shite. I haven't got round to taking any photos, but it's an R plate 106 "Zest" in silver, so I'm hoping that anyone interested will know what one looks like. It's a 1124cc, first registered 29/05/98, got about 50150 miles on it.Runs ok, drops a bit of oil, and the exhaust is blowing, dent to OSF wing, and the bonnet's lacquer has disapeared and is OMGRATLUKYO. Oh, and the sunroof has started to leak a bit, so the inside of the windows are as wet as an otter's pocket. It's failed on a number of piddly things really, and if I was ten years younger, three stone lighter, and twice as fit, it'd be fixed. But I'm 44, dodgy back, 17.5 stone, and i CANNOT be arsed. So, cartakeback, WBAC and all t'others are saying it's worth between £140-£155. Shiters price £120, but it needs to be either gone, or at least "dibbed" very soon, as Mrs_Outlaw has spoken. Just let me know if you need any info.

wackywacerwill Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 GLWTS, hope it finds a good home etc. Based on experience of other small Puglets the must be a good steer and therefore a car worth saving. I'm fairly local and have space to stash it for week or so before the man starts kicking off if that helps at all.
outlaw118 Posted January 20, 2014 Author Posted January 20, 2014 Unfortunately cartakeback are coming to get her on Wednesday, after Mrs_Outlaw threatened to castrate me with a pair of blunt scissors, so I spent 2 hours removing pez from the tank. I now can't taste anything except 4* and my padded shirt is a massive fire hazard. Joey spud and Vince70 2
Parky Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 That's a pity, needs must and all that though. What do cartakeback do? Will Puglet end up in the crusher or will they liberate the internal organs so other 106's get a shot at a normal life?
cobblers Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 A baggy rear axle is the killer here, there's no fixing it other than buying a 2nd hand and certainly also fucked axle for £80, or a supposedly "recon" one that will last one year at best for £200. Bit sad really cos it won't be long til there's no 10saxos on the road because of the totally wank back axle bush design and they are a right chuckle to lob about.
outlaw118 Posted January 22, 2014 Author Posted January 22, 2014 Well, Puglet has gone, driven onto a Transit Beavertail about 815am. matey turned up, signed the logbook, gave me a cheque then went. Simple as. As far as I know, she's going to be stripped of anything worth having (not much) and the rest cubed. It's a shame really; aside from the pedals being made for drivers with "dainty" feet, it was a proper grin to drive, imagine a (real) mini, but with more body roll, you'll come close. But in the year of ownership, everything on the above MoT PHAIL sheet has developed, and looking at the state of the car in general, i don't believe the 50100 mileage, and I don't believe the previous MoT certificate. Ho hum, a years motoring for under £300 can't be bad.
Pillock Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Cartakeback just outsource to local scrappers so anything without a test gets stripped and cubed. It was one of their arrangements that lead to my Mongdeo going on the back of a beavertail for £102 years ago - I googled the name on the side of the van, found their ebay shop and saw a few choice parts like the lockwood dials, boot spoiler and a few things I recognised. Their advertising strategy seems to consist of providing a service to people who live in a posh area, and have had a large repair quote on their second car or summat. "Oh no, we can't possibly have that sat broken down on the driveway Charles. Ring these people and then go and buy me a new Corsa". outlaw118 1
outlaw118 Posted January 22, 2014 Author Posted January 22, 2014 Thats what I thought; however in the "T's & C's" it stipulates that they may re-use the whole vehicle, and asks that the "sold green bit" and the "scrapped yellow bit" are both signed. I was under no illusion what was going to happen to Puglet, but unfortunately my lack of SKILLZ and time (and inclination, health, money, space, tools blah blah) meant that it wasn't going to be repaired/saved. Never mind, I plan to have something to replace it by next week, and yes I will write a collection thread, and take photos in a petrol station.
