I've been asked to see if I know anyone that might be interested in this, here seems a good place to start.

1969 Austin 1100 Auto

40,000 miles

Has recently had new sills and a full set of tyres.

Comes with a box of spares that includes front and rear windows.

The car is in Fishguard, Wales and they're asking for £750 for it.  No tax (remember, tax free on this) or test, but has been used regularly off the public highway and kept well serviced I am told.

If you're interested, I'm happy to pass your details on to them.

Dear God, that is something else.

Sweet as the proverbial nut!  Since it's a slushbox, this is where I try and persuade Mrs S that she wants to learn to drive... probably with the usual result.

I would love an ADO16 again (my first car was a 1300GT). Sadly - lack of money, space, time, sympathetic other half etc. etc. mean it'll probably never happen. Strange to have news sills and tyres but not bothering to get a test on it? Looks solid enough though - v. nice.

I thought that too, but I think they use it to pootle on private land so haven't really needed to spend on an MoT.  Would help it sell I think. I'd have a punt on it myself but, yanno, I'm a three car man these days and I think four would be an extravagance.  That and I'm broke.

A shame it's too far away from me and not road legal, otherwise I'd be tempted to find out more.

I'd certainly be interested if it had an MOT.

I have enquired as to the possibility of it getting an MoT.  I will let you know what is said when I get a reply.

£750 was all I got for my MK1 manual with a long MoT, and it wasn't in the arse end of Wales either. This one has been for sale for ages. If it's so good why is there no MoT?

Lovely looking car but does sound a bit sus, as fair enough if the car is only being used on a private estate, but why go to the trouble of the sills etc?

Turns out the sills weren't done by the present owner, but the owner he bought it from.  I wonder if people don't MoT cars in case they don't sell within the 12 month period and regard it as wasted money, not realising it could improve the chance the car has of finding a new owner and delivering greater profit than the £30-50 MoT cost.

There's plenty of salt air in Fishguard so I wonder what the heelboard, sub-frames and trumpets are like. I bought a manual one the same colour as this years ago for my aunt (she would only drive 1100s), it had a knackered first gear so was cheap . My brother did some welding to it, swapped the engine and box into it out of her old one and it lasted until we stopped her driving a few years later.
