I bought this lovely little thing in 2012. I owned a complete rotter in 2009, but sold it to an MR2 breaker. It converted me to Japanese cars, and I've not looked back since.

It failed it's MOT last month due to surface rust underneath (unfair as it's not worrying corrosion). And the two things I knew about - needs new handbrake cables and the exhaust backbox rubber remounting (doh!).

This is pretty good considering how bad some of them can be. It is solid underneath, I undersealed the thing in February and have checked and it just needs a few bits covering again.

It has a Poweflow exhaust system, has been lowered a bit, has TRD cams, an aftermarket Emerald ECU (not fitted) and is wired up to a Superchip expansion box. It is pretty much standard everywhere else, apart from Lotus Eclát wheels (with a spare in the front) with brand new tyres on the back, and the fronts have about 5mm of tread left. The handling is predictable, it's 138bhp stock and is fast as flip. You can easily go sideways round a roundabout in the wet, and it will always go straight when you counter with the steering. It comes with original MR2 mats, original radio, interior, etc. It has a service manual, Haynes manual, all the owners books, a big binder of receipts, all MOT's and history by previous owners. It has the original toolkit with jack, spanners, pliers, screwdriver, etc, with an extra Toyota toolbag. It's lovely and comfy inside and the interior is very dark and nice. The wheels are 4x114.3 which means it has 1inch hub 100 -> 114 PCD converters which cost a bit.

The idle is very, very, very slightly lumpy, which doesn't mean it's difficult to drive, start, and it doesn't hesitate on accelaration. I replaced the front wings, valance, etc with decent ones.

I replace most of the bushes, ARB links, steering rack, alternator and various other bits last year.

I've done 30,000 miles in it in the past year or so, driving to France in the Summer, etc. It has never let me down. What is there not to like in these things?

It does have bits of rust here and there. The Team Dynamic wheels where on it when I bought it and I still have them (with new tyres) if you'd prefer.

Don't really want to do this, but current circumstances and all that - I'm looking for £1000 for it with 12 months MOT and 6 months tax.

I would do all untold naughties to that! It does seem more appealing than a Triumph Acclaim that owes me more money!

Another fine vehicle I'd like to buy with the grand I ain't got.

I had the utter privilege of being the custodian of this for a couple of weeks last year and I can honestly say it drives 100%.

My old car! It's looking significantly better than when you collected it, covered in GREEN, from my parents' place.

You've done a really nice job on her - I had to swap the interior from the leather to blue velour because the leather had just shredded itself into tiny pieces, but I found the velour much more comfortable.

Did you keep the alarm on it? After a few teething troubles (i.e. furious neighbours), I managed to sort the sensitivity after lengthy discussions with some very helpful geezer who used to work for Scorpion.

Would love to buy her back to be honest, but it's a bit too nice for me now!

Hi! Yeah, I did buy from you!

The alarm is still on it! I haven't had any troubles from it, but if you don't close the door properly, it'll go off, much to the joy of the people overlooking my parking space at work. I still have the notes put under the windscreen!

Has been a great car, REALLY lucky to have got it, and for so cheap as well.

and for so cheap as well.

:)

Only the finest* deals available from Mercedade's House of Terrible Economics. Where else would you find a seller willing to pump £200 into a caliper for a car already destined for sale, in the hope it would live on?

The parts and time you've splurged making it look like it does were well worth it - 30k miles must be more than it achieved in the previous 10 years put together.

Proper stoked that it still lives.

(seriously, I wouldn't begrudge you a solitary penny of the asking price - I'm so pleased to see it up and running, looking a shiteload better than it would had I kept it, decomposing on the drive whilst I dreamed of the day when I might run two cars again. It's earned a crack at sensible money)

It IS getting looked after, I was going to get it resprayed this year, but other things happened and it would've been out of action for a few months in the summer.

I'm i the only one who thinks the lotus alloys make it look futuristic, despite being 20+ years old?....... just me then.
