Shite trailers - Anyone got one?

At home I had the use of a great home brew 6x4x2 trailer with side hinged lid, as shown a bit here...

Now I'm in Cumbria and that's in Belfast, I'm after something similar to use over here. The roofbars on the C70 are good and all, but the LPG tank filled boot is basically useless, and no use for moving engines and that!

Anyone in the NW got something they'd part with for an autoshitey sort of sum? Don't mind a bit of rewiring and even wheel bearings!

Trailers are like women, always in the way but occasionally very useful.

Where are you?  Is some sort of random, barely-organised Autoshitey Volvo meet in order?

My mate wants rid of my old DIY box trailer (made by mad dad, years ago). It has Mini hubs and is alloy panelled.

It does need some welding/re-engineering though, as overloading it has left it with an amount of toe in, that if it was -ve camber, would certainly be classified as 'sick'.

One snag. He's in Co. Durham.

This thread reminds me, I once got a box trailer along with a K11 Micra and some ca$h mon£y, in exchange for a DTi Laguna.

years ago I made this

it was a pair of caravan chassis cut in half and welded together, and so was fully braked but not too heavy when empty.

When we moved house I had to sell it.

Then I bought five folding trailers from Taiwan, sold four and kept one.  This folds in half and stands upright in the garage taking very little floor space.  I'll have to dig up some pics.

I have a wood and metal 5x3 trailer I bought, complete with lightboard, for £50 from one of those hand-written cards in the supermarket. It's stored behind work and will be as much as a bastard to get out as it was to get in, no doubt. Can't bring myself to part with it, and can't see myself using it either.

I appreciate this post is of no use to the OP whatsoever, unless there is one for sale in his Tesco too.

I'm in Ulverston, didn't realise you had a Volvo now! You're Barrow iirc? There's a great 240 Torslanda on my street, you probably see it on a layby on the 590 during the day if you're about!

Durham's probably a bit far to go for a bent homebrew jobbie really, don't have access to a welder or anything here atm :(

Also not sure I'll ever be towing with the ado16, Keef!

Saw a shite Robin Reliant towing a 6x4 trailer with 16inch Landrover wheels the other day. Wish I had a photo. Just imagine it...

I am in Barrow, yes.  Is the 240 the red one that goes with the snack van?

That's the one! It's always loaded up with burger buns and cooler boxes when I see it.

Will have to have a mini meet soon!

Oh bugger, does that mean I have to buy a Mini now? ;)

Tell you what, let's keep it to the Volvos... we could have it at the snack van!

Spotted another red Volvoshitestatebuttyvan in the locality this week! At the quarry corner between Grizebeck filling station and Foxfield there's a red V70 ph1 on black T5 wheels. Might just have to call in with both! ;)

Owned by my Dad for 20 years and given to me a couple of years ago. In fact it was given to him back then after it had a blow out and twisted the chassis. I managed to straighten it for him whilst still just a schoolboy, so what goes around comes around in the end...
