Brilliant BL video

Jesus, a leyland promo film that shows the brakes failing on one of their cars and mowing through people and babies killing them. Doubt you'd get that past the ad agency these days!

Someone at the Heritage Motor Centre should remaster this in HD. I remember showing this to my PR tutor at Uni. She was astonished, she thought it was satire.

I'm convinced that it must be a complete pisstake. Why show one of your top selling cars killing an old man and a baby. That's just bonkers.

Customers watching that must have run a mile.

BTW did anyone on here have failing brakes on their Allegro or rust on your Marina????

thought not.

Defoe a pisstake.

This has been posted on here a few times but it never ceases to run a chill down my spine, I mean killing the driver and Mr Griffiths, the caretaker from Grange Hill, off is bad enough but the baby was stepping over mark in my eyes!

This is probably a video for employees to show the importance of their role in the company and the repercussions.

*edit, Waderider beat me to it.

That must be an internal film. I can't see Leyland showing it to anyone outside their own employees as it doesn't exactly sell the firm to anyone.

It's obviously not a promo video. It's a staff training film - much like those great '80s AR dealership films that got posted up here a few months ago (by 109landys3 if I remember rightly).

That was kind of going a bit extreme showing the baby's pram getting crushed like that, despite it being not real. But if you think about it, its kinda true.

A couple of minutes when they start showing where the car is 'born' in the designers studio, we see non other than Poirot himself. Didn't realise Poirot moonlighted a BL car designer, or did he moonlight as a Belgian detective?

I also saw a good selection of well known faces. Poirot, Denzil off OFAH, Arthur off On the Busses and as Trig already pointed out, the caretaker from Grange Hill.

I noticed that BL/Rover often used well-known names when making PR vids. Funny how times change. Well-known names will only appear these days to "promote" a product and probably get paid far much more than all the old faces did put together.
