Gaydon or Coventry Transport Museum

Have one day off from the NEC show next week (Saturday) and want to kill it looking at yet more old cack.

Which venue is better, or is there time in one day to see both?

I've done both of them and I rate them both equally, that said Coventry is excellent and it's free and it depends on your budget really.

Coventry without a doubt for me. Where else can you see the two thrust record cars along with a Horizon turbo?

You can get free access to most of the decent motor museums by joining the Vintage Motorcycle Charitable Trust, which is £20 a year.  I particularly like Sammy Miller's in the New Forest - it's a nice ride and they have a very decent cafe.

If you've got a missus to entertain there's a craft fair on upstairs at Cov this weekend, which my wife says is apparently quite good.  (Don't worry, it won't impinge on your viewing pleasure of their Peugeot 309, Hillman Avenger, etc.)

Also, there's a new section devoted to Jaguar opened recently - it's pretty swish.

Luckily a mate is taking his missus so they can buddy up and do what they want while we perv at Rover P5s
