Bugger.

Last-minute PHAIL. Ironically, car trouble. Sorry, chaps.

Well a partial success from me tonight.

I made it to the Hollies Truck Stop but couldn't see anything obviously owned by a shitter in the car park and no one inside either.

I headed over to the Auction but then it dawned on me that I have never met any of you before and didn't have any contact numbers either to meet up. Again nothing obvious in the car park and no one around with a banner saying Autoshite! I didn't fancy probing people one by one to be honest so I had a mooch around and then came home.

There looked to be a good selection on offer, a dollywobbler Sirion with various flower stickers on it stood out as the best of the bunch.

Hope others made it and met up, next time I'll get a mobile number or something and make more of an effort. 2/10 from me.

Sometimes it comes together, as the actress said to the bishop, and sometimes it doesn't

To answer the earlier question, we were going to meet at the Midway Truckstop on the A41 near Whitchurch, then mosey along to a scrapyard of Dugong's acquaintance.

I was also a partial success. Got to hollies at 5:45 and couldn't see Chase's Merc so went onto the auction and hung about on my own while watching the auctioneer get more desperate as the night wore on. The cheapest bargains are to be had right at the beginning before the room fills up. Though I liked the 56 plate C4 VTS (140,000 miles) that went for 1550 and the 900 quid jag X type (no MOT though).

Definatly a place to go if you want a sub 500 quid car. Top bargain buy of the night was an X reg punto with 10 months MOT that went for just 210.

How's next Saturday suit then?

Gives me a chance to arrange but not guarantee I'll be there. Don't shuffle it round just for me.

This Saturday's fine.  There are musical things happening on the 8th with Domestic Management and the International Percussionist, but I should be able to work around them.  Happy with either  :)

So, gentlemen... are we meeting in the AS Midlands Massiv boardroom next Saturday?  ;) http://www.truckersrest.co.uk/ 9.30-ish onward...?

I will be there with my Autoshite Company car and possibly even my City Pinstripe suit/raincoat or Soliciters coat 8)

See you at the auctions, Julian - we can all talk more about Whitchurch then.

Will try and get to this as fell through at the last minute last time. Will be taking the wife's car to give it an Italian Tune up as per my other HGF thread.

Look for the Short Fat Bloke in the Green Polo.

Cheers

I will see you all at the auction house. I'll be wearing a bowler hat and a carrying a copy of Jallopy* under my arm. The pass phrase is 'This car looks clean in the dark' the response to be 'but tomorrow the sun will shine and the rust will show'.

*I don't own either a bowler hat or a copy of Jallopy.
