I noticed some GoodWood talk on the 5 series thread, so instead of derailing it any further than it had been I thought I'd share this with you all on a fresh thread.

I went to the Revival this year and it was great. Loved every second and the closest to time travel I've ever been. I'm going back next year for sure.I put on a blazer, chinos and a tie and lost the beard. To be honest I was glad I did, it made me feel more like I was "taking part" rather than just spectating (all in the mind of course).

There was a mini 60's Tesco there (how Autoshite is that) and I met Ed China (No I didn't punch him in the balls-sorry) who seemed like a really nice bloke.

To top it all off I bought a 1:43 model of this Renault Safrane as well.

Anyway, some shite slipped through the net.

I will do this show one year as it's right up my street.

Let me know if you do-I'll buy you a plastic glass of Old Speckled Hen

I spend a good chunk of a day there, but it was no where near long enough, missed loads of stuff out. I spend a good hour just wandering around the pre 66 car park

i am going to have to go next year i keep promising myself but dont get around to it

Twas discussed on the R4 forum but that R4 van is a fake - all the vehicles taking part are supposed to be pre '66 or whatever and that F4 van is a early / mid '80s example [/geek]

I thought the modern font on the decals spoiled it too. How can you tell (apart from the number plate, and I have no idea how to read French number plates)? And the wheels looked a little too modern too, somehow.

^ Wheels, door mirrors, plastic front grill, front bumper, front indicator / sidelight units and door hinges (early ones had external hinges). I could go one.

(although to be fair, its still nice and I undoubtedly would)

I find things like that worryingly interesting.

Pistons and Props looked good at Sywell looked good but we were somewhere else..........similar idea but featured planes as well.

Next year there is the Atomic festival.........40s through to 60s....ie the Atomic age. Cars and music.

I wondered around the track and did the full circuit...the racing was great, full contact with the touring cars and sports cars and the bigger, much, much more expensive stuff was being drifted round the bends and then taken up the straight at full chat.

I have some half arsed videos of the best bits-if anyone is interested I'll edit and YouTube them.

Is the place rammed full of wankers wearing yellow corduroy trousers?

Posted

No way. They wouldn't dream of mixing with the great unwashed, and stay in the grandstands.

You are not alone, my friend.

Did they really thrash around that Cahninannal on the track?

OMFG, I do hope so...
