These late MGs are GR9. I had a shot of a ZS and it was a great handling thing. Absolute bargain now too.

What a winmobile.

I remember reading that for whatever reason the ZS/45 was much less affected than the other cars by the Pheonix four's Project Grippiness scheme and so they are the best of the bunch to buy now

As others have already suggested, the V6 ZS is a fabulously mental car. I often wish I still had one - despite the appallingly chav image.

My neighbours is KV6 powered and a 180

They really seemed to get good at suspension and chassis tuning towards the end...even Clarkson rated that SV thing.

the mags used to rave on about the driving experience, seemingly the suspension tuning is really good and they drive much better than they look

Sterling, that 45 is pretty much identical to that 45 I had inside.

My dream one would be a 45 connoisseur hatch fitted with the 2.0 V6, manual box from a ZS, tall final drive from a R8 220/420, and ZS suspension, that would be the tits!

I recon turning a 2.5zs into a 2.5 rover 45 wouldn't be a length or expensive procedure if there's a colour the share (silver)

It's nice to read so many positive comments about the Rover 400/45.  Other than OMGHGF and rear trailing arm bushes , not a lot goes wrong with them. Mines approaching 100,000 miles , yet it's still tight and rattle free. The 1.8 performs well in the 45 as the car only weighs around 1250 kg.  It's far more relaxing to drive compared to the 1.4 and 1.6 versions due to the low down torque.

That is a most sexiful Rover. The interior is laaarvley :)

These things are absurdly cheap, is it a 1.6?

Its a 1.816 valve with a not to dismal 120bhp to chuck about.

I have always had a curiosity over the sad demise of Longbridge and in a funny kind of way this is me taking part in something that once was.....sob

Yep and the SRS light sorting!

Try the connectors under the seats for the side airbags. Happens on my 45 whenever someone slides the seats back and forth.

Strangely enough, I did move the drivers seat all the way back and forth today to vacuum it out, I only noticed the light after when I took the pics. Thanks for the tip

Yes, I'd like a go of a V6, although the 180's spoiler would end up in the skip pretty quickly.

Did a quick google search and they're cheaper than I thought. I'd have to bin those frigging multi spokes for something different, mind.

Nice, looks great. The one borrowed to me hadn't had a proper wash for ages and even though it was only borrowed to me for a few days the first thing I did was chuck it through a car wash and it came up NICE.

I am genuinely surprised/pleased with the bodywork as its really clean. The only rust is on the inside of the passenger door on the door frame seal, and its not visible from the outside either.

You can feel the lesser build/materials quality compared to my '03 VW Bora, but you can't argue with the potential value for money (I paid £250! with a ticket vs £2,300 for my VW Bora TDI)

What's next?

New rear discs needed, refresh the brake/clutch fluid,

Full engine service including cam-belt (supplied with car) and coolant change, no rush tho as I don't need it finishing just now....

That's about it really, then just use it......
