Polo-no holes barred.

Mr Boll0x suggested I now write something car related and interesting, that wasn’t about toilet graffiti. I tried writing about my Mercedes in the past but that just made me angry and then very upset, reminding me that I’d spent £200 on some rust.
So here it is, an essay about something different: my OMG ALL GERMAN CARZ R AMAZING Polo.
It’s not old enough to be shite yet, being made in 2005, but is future shite for sure: it’s giffer spec, mint and still retains its dealer sticker.
It’s also been in the family since new.

It’s a 1.4 16v lump which amazingly, hasn’t broken down yet. The 75 ps engine doesn't really move it unless you put your foot flat to the floor, and even then it’s a “Vrrrrrmmm†and little else.
Although it was once loaded up with 5 people, and still tackled hills with ease.

In the 8 years we’ve had it all that’s broken is the cat, that happened when it was still under warranty, a suspension bush broke earlier this year, but I put that down to Hampshire’s shocking roads, and the air con (just needs a regas, guv).
It’s pretty comfortable for small car, the ride ain’t bad and if you go carful, very easy on fuel.
Solid and simple is how I’d describe it.

I’m not under the assumption it’s perfect-it’s not. My left knee knocks on the lower part of the dash,  the rear door sills collect water, meaning a pint’s worth drenches my deck shoes when I open them up after it’s been raining. This is also great for rust prevention... :-?

I did have more pictures but tinypic is being and arse.

How is it for rust? A relative of mine had a 96 polo and is disintegrated like a '60s Vauxhall

Fine. But, it's only a 2005 car (give it time) and it's kept cleaned and waxed which must go some way to keeping the rot at bay.

That does not look like a Vauxhall Labrador.

???

Have you been sniffing the four star again, Colt?

It's an Alan Partridge reference. I must have tried it on the wrong man.

I can't recall the Vauxhall Labrador *hits YouTube*

Knowing me, knowing you.

This show frequently includes mention of Rover cars and there’s even an appearance from a salesman from the Norfolk Rover dealership, dressed up as Santa. This predictably blows up in Alan’s face when Tony Hayers catches on to what’s happening, forcing a last minute change of plan for a Christmas cracker joke - "What make of car goes 'woof woof'? It’s not a Rover. It’s a Vauxhall Labrador"

In my experience, Rovers go "beep beep" at 2 am.

My mother has a 2006 Polo in 1900 diesel flavour.

Its OK in a firm seated black interior Germanic way.

One day it will be mine, but by that time it will have attained shite rusty heap status.

As i have mentioned previously, it was one of these we took to We Buy Any Car last month. It was a 54 plate and had only done 55k but it felt awful to drive, like a car 20yrs older. It got replaced by an 02 plate Fiesta which feels loads newer and just much much better built.

When working on it nothing would undo as all the bolts has rusted solid like it was a 79 Polo not an 05 one, everything broke and the dashboard was regularly lit up like Blackpool seafront.

Really was one of the most hateful pieces of shit i have ever had to deal with.

I cant figure out if you have been lucky with yours or my neighbours were unlucky with theirs. Bit of both i suspect. Lad at work has one too and rang up the garage as he had the engine management light come on his dash. The garage said, its a polo, leave it a few days, if its not just switched itself of come in they tend to make this shit up. But he has also had lots of suspension problems like my neighbours but that might be a reflection of the leeds roads more than anything else.
