Bought this pair of continentals last year that had been in a barn for many years

Wow.  I should think that poor little 814 would have done a wheelie if you'd come off the clutch a bit quick.

This was my only dabble into yank territory, a full on redneck edition Camaro Z28 Iroc Z

It confirmed to me however my belief that yank cars are only good at 2 things... sounding immense and doing burnouts :)

I bought two new cars in my life. One of them was a 1986 Camaro IROC-Z with the RPO B2L 350 TPI.

It was electric blue pearlescent and it also had the RPO 2HT posi, 82C grey cloth, CC1 roof panels, J65 Brembo brakes, ZP3 265/60 Goodyear Gatorbacks and AG9 Recaro seats. I bought it like this through the COPO scheme.

This was sufficient to give some hammer-shark-spoilered Porsches a run for their money on German Autobahns.

I sold it when it was three years old. The guy who bought it still has it and it is still in the same condition it was when I got it.

So much for redneck spec.

I would love to own an American car one day, unfortunately cost and living down the Devon lanes may put that dream off yet for some while to come.

Those later Corvair Monzas are beautiful and must surely be one of the best ever styled cars, let alone American.  Loving the (67?) Barracuda aswell.

However my choice would be something equally beautiful, but in a more gaudy style; a '59 Dodge.

I too haven't yet owned an American car.

Seventies barges appear to be the way that I would go.

Robbie Coltrane lives nearby and he has some interesting stuff.

The only proper Yank I've owned was a '67 Impala 4 door hardtop it was black with a little 283cu V8 so it sounded great but wasn't any quicker than a 3.0 Granada. It was the car I had when I met my wife though so it must have been a little impressive, 30 years and at least a couple of hundred cars later she still mentions it.

The old 814 wasn't happy having them on that way but was so tight where they come out of,its the only way I was getting them on ! Luckily it was only 20 miles away
