Trade / Multicar insurance advice

Good evening all.

I'm looking to tap the barrel of Autoshite knowledge.

I'm looking to get an insurance policy in the style of a Trade policy, but I'm not actually a trader.

I buy and sell occasionally (twice a year average) but make no proffit by capital gains standards.

Do you need to "qualify" for trade insurance?

I just want a policy that will cover me third party for whatever car I need to drive (even if its not insured with anyone else).

No need for any "extras".

Does anyone have a policy with those benefits?

Can anyone point me toward a decent firm?

Cheers in advance for any advice that can be mustered up.

Are the cheapest I found by a country mile. If you ever make a claim then any trade insurance company will want proof of trading, so knock a few out and keep receipts etc.

Cheers fella.

I find this most helpful.

I wonder what conversation inspired this thread. Lol.

I'm off to Nottingham tomorrow for more car-nage. May collect an A-Frame en route.

I was indeed talking to Edd about it today.

It's beige. No shit.

It's also only £2500 ono. For a three year old nicely specced motor, capable of 70 MPG that costs £30 p/a to tax . #seetheappeal

That's freakishly cheap. It's done 144K though, but has full Renner service history and has been a company car. So well worth a peep.

He was willing to spend more on one of similar age. I say don't, if this one passes the test.

I cannot comprehend spending that much money on one car.

Its probably an amazing deal, but my brain only goes up to £400.

If something costs more than that, it best have a postcode and two toilets.

You know me, I don't doubt that these days you can get an awful lot for £400, but you can just as well get highly burned with an unreliable POS that is dropping to bits and costs a fortune, constantly (the appeal for a lot on here?)

For someone who just wants a safe, reliable, modern motor that runs on fresh air, it's an amazing bargain.

Sometimes you have to spend more. There are many people who wouldn't even be able to contemplate only spending three figures on a car.

I spent £2000 on my fun car, complete with no MoT. Some say a car with no test is only worth scrap money.

Horses for courses.

I'll briefly hijack this thread - I have three moderns and three classics* on the road and two more projects pending. My wife has to be insured for one of the moderns. Is there a better way than insuring them all individually? The three on classic insurance cost <£100 each per year.

Heritage do a "fleet" policy on which you can include classics and moderns - might be worth trying them for a quote.

I'm with Tradewise through the Insurance Factory, pretty pleased with the price though it is a fair amount of cash as I have goods in transit cover for the truck too (literally a GIT).

Have not bothered adding my LAnd Rover as it is only £82 a year fully comp with RH, euro recovery etc and on the trade policy would only be third party.

What age is 'classic' nowadays? XM is 16 years young, I *have access* to a 54 plater? Any other stipulations? Mrs_beko gets 5 years no claims given to her by aviva in Feb, at which time I will shop around for 2 seperate policies and see if its cheaper than the £180 a month we pay now on a multicar one (both fully comp, legal shit, some other crap)
