XM 2.5 diesel breaking, Stoke on Trent.

Picked this up today to use as a source of spares for my 2.5 Exclusive project. It has lost compression on one cylinder, has a leak on a HP pipe underneath, plus an issue with rust and is really only good for parts.

I need the strut tops and spheres, plus a few other odds and ends but the rest is up for sale. The interior looks near perfect.

If anybody needs any parts let me know

From memory the nosecones on these are quite sought after, Tim.

Where's our old mate Messcherschmitt* Owner these days?

This may be of interest on one of my deviant brothers. I've sent him a link.

Does it have its headlight washer covers? Ooh, and there's a plastic tray that sits under the passenger seat area and protects the lhm pipes. Has clips for the pipes and a screwhole. If that's going spare name your price!

Oh, and the left hand display, the one that does the error messages and radio readouts if its available

Wasn't he after a 2.1?

Posted

I'm not sure to be honest.

He's not even sure, last I heard...

Let's wait and see.

Hmm. A 2.5 would be fun. There not an XUD, slightly different, and rarer and more difficult to work on and less reliable. Im after a 2.1 or a 1.9 really, but this could be fun for a project...

One of these has been dropped into a 205 before now, reasonably easy to do apparently.

How much for complete engine?? PM me

Didn't these like to rust from the inside out, starting with the sills?

I'll PM you now...

These have missing pixels but seem to be better than my existing ones so i'm planning on keeping them.

The covers are missing and taped over, I'm not sure what this plastic tray looks like but you can have it for a fiver plus postage if you like.

IIRC side and rear glass for those is made of unobtainium. It's also a pain in the backside to remove, but if you can be bothered (and don't break it) it's bound to fetch a reasonable price.

I'm learning alot about XMs. Much of them is unobtainium  apparently, especially on the 2.5s. Rare doesn't always = valuable though!

I would pay CA$H MON€¥ for the chance to drive a 205 fitted with a 2.5 litre diesel engine.

HowTF is it gonna handle with that lump hanging out the front?!

Posted

Only one way to find out. You'd probably need a few of those rubber blocks for towing caravans stuffed into the front springs mind.

I know of a gent who may be interested in parts...are you ever on AROnline?

Posted

I used to be, but haven't been on for a long time!

Oh, and these do like to rust. The sills and jacking points have been repaired on this one already and they still look full of horrors if probed with a screwdriver.

Works for me! I havent got a picture of mine, had to hurridly snap it off as it was scraping the road and pulling the pipes about. I'm sure you'll see it, get the car on high whilst you still can and poke your head under the drivers seat (under the car). Should be held in with 1 t15 screw and french love (it may need some wriggling)

Fair play on the matrix, dont blame you for keeping them. Intend to get mine out and see if I can fix them but it seems a bit daunting taking the whole dash out so left it for now. I just rely on LBC telling me I'm listening to them every 5 minutes...

Hi. I have a 1998 Citroen XM and have been trying to get a drivers side front window regulator. If yours is ok, please quote me a price delivered to Weston Super Mare. I would be very grateful.  Robin
