Citroen Xsara: suprisingly OK.

Some of you will remember my Citroen Xsara, which when I got it had a trashed and disgusting interiour.

Well, I got a new radio and surrounding plastic bits, cleaned it within an inch of its life, and it looks alright.

What do we all think?

And here's outside. A bit knocked about, but all in all, not too bad.

Very OK car. Comfy, practical, blah blah blah. I'd get one again.

And 10 Partridge points to the first person who can spot the difference between both passenger seats...they are indeed different...story for another day-a tip run was involved.

The front of the base cushions are different shapes!

Can you spot the other give away for a further 5 bonus Partridge points?

I do like the look of these cars. They seem really unpopular too, which just makes them better in my eyes.

The white spot on the Right leading edge isnt there on the new one.

I'll accept. The pattern is different!

Cavette, it's very good. It rides really well, it's fairly speedy and a lot better put together than you'd think. I get late forties most of the time, which isn't bad for an older car.

You could do a lot worse.

I used to run an N reg Xantia Blower Dizzler and I loved that old car, had more miles than the enterprise but you could go anywhere in the old tub.

The Zara is the same thing without all the oily susspension, so what's not to like?

The Xsara is very under rated imho, My 1998 1.4 Xsara Sensation is the only car I have had to replace exhaust system twice, brake pads twice and a set of tyres and a clutch, ive done 55k in 5 years and still very happy with it and although its needing new drive shafts, the heating only works on full blow, never gets very warm in winter unless you are doing a ling journey and the clutch sticks down occasionally I am in no rush to replace it. I bought it on ebay as a part ex with 1 owner, 45000 miles and service history for £600 and it has never let me down, even when it was threatening to break down 45 miles from home the old gal still limped home. I get an average of 44 mpg and I don't pussy it around and I service it meself.

The other 2000 (W) reg Xsara I have is fitted with air con and uses a bit more fuel and does not seem as nippy as the older one must be the extra pullies on the engine and has a weird smell inside which I think Alan Partridge complained about in his, Coulds be the gasses going off??? or I think there is a pollen filter on these but as of yet I have not looked for it, I don't know.

Go to the french car forum and look in the Xsara section.

I remember an uncle having one of these when they were a bit note current and he really rated it. Not a bad looking motor either.

Yes, my car did have a good pong to it, but after a couple of good cleans it's wearing off.
