Me and a mate joint owned an allegro the exact same as yours, in the 80's we drove from southampton to glasgow in it.

 

we stopped for fuel near kendal and the thing decided it was going no further, luckily a R.A.C guy pulled up in the petrol station and gave it a 240v shock or something even though we weren't members, but because we had the mates 2 young kids with us.

dunno what he done but it got us to glasgow... a week spent up there and back to southampton without anymore bother

 

but we sold it sharpish just incase.
