Saab 93 Convertible £750 - NOT PICKLED ONION JET PACK DOG BISCUIT

I'm selling this Saab 93 Convertible that I somehow got involved with a couple of months ago. It's a 2.0S non turbo, 112,000 miles, MOT April 2014 and Tax end Nov 2013. Some service history.

I've exceeded my car bandwidth and Mrs C is starting to get annoyed at all the cars at the house  so I need to get shot of something and I'm not ready to part with the XJR yet.

When I got it it had a dent in the door, which I've now fixed to a reasonablish standard but was let down by a shit colour match aerosol (damn you ebay) . It all been laquered, wet sanded, compounded etc etc so is nice and shiny. I cannie be arsed doing it again and the result would probably be similiar anyway.

The interior is black leather and in good condition. Everything seems to work other than the aircon. The roof works fine but will annoyingly snag on the cover on the way down. I've fannied around with to little result and I think the hinge needs adjusted possibly with a big hammer.

It seems to drive well for one of these, by which I mean it's horrible. I can't see any of the signs of OMG bulkhead failuze and there's no distressing oil pump noises. The starter seems a bit lazy on occasion but it's always started. Other than the shit paintwork by me the car is really clean. The only bit of rust I've found is a bit of the lip of the front wheel arch and it's spotless in the inner arches and underneath.

I'm in Ayrshire, West coast of Scotland.  £750.

Annoying

A Packman yellow soft top. If you want people in the street to notice you, this is the car for you...

The “colour match†is more green than anything though.

Yes the colour is very annoying. I used yellow primer (maybe i should have used white?), used a guide coat, flatted it back then painted on top. Result? It looks green. Pishflaps.

I’ve got some matching to do on my fabric conditioner blue Citroen...that’s gonna be a Grade A hash up.

Body work is impossible. I didn't want to spend much money on it but I should have done the prep then just spent the £80 getting my painter mate to paint and laquer it properly. Have arsed job etc.

Looks like you didn't put enough coats on maybe? I would've used white for light colours and grey for dark colours, and all my paintwork looks perfect. *

It's annoying isn't it?

The physical effort of actually having to get out of the car to give it a nudge is not what I expect from a "premium brand". "They all do that, sir"..............

I recon you're right but I was advised by a professional yellow was best (it obviously wasn't).

I'm hoping for a sunny weekend so I can shove this in a carpark down the beach with a 4-Sale signed written out badly in brown felt tip pen shoved in the window.

The primer that the paint is coloured for is best. I primered a BMX frame for the lad in grey, he chose Ford Electric Orange and it took shitloads of paint before starting to look anything other than ginger. Then I looked at the can and it said "use white primer". Doh.

Hoots mon! WANT! But can't :(

Good luck with the sale of this fine vehicle.

Mine is going up for sale this week too. Got it through an mot this week so I figure its either sell now or stuck with it another year since no one buys convertibles in September.

When mine has been working, I've really liked it. They are über shit to drive tho.

Nice cars these, and probably the cheapest way into a half decent 4 seater ragtop. Usual GLWTS noises.

The oil cap's probably a better match for the paintwork than the door.....
