Borders at TVTE closed down.

The English should take a leaf from that book (LOOOOOOOOOOL) and do the same.

These opinions should prove popular on here.

Nah. When I want the latest copy of 'Import Tooner' I will have to try the city centre branch.

That's a great history of the car, looks like it did a full circle and came back to Wales. Interesting to see it's had all-male owners, and indeed the singing 'sensation' Shane Ward has had a go on it too. Have you ever thought about getting the original TWO 80Y registration re-allocated? Would be great for the originality!

Yeah, weird how it came back to Wales. No careful* lady owners is a bit of an odd one. The wheels, albeit incorrect at present (part number missing due to being previously diamond cut) are not kerbed, and there is oil in the engine, so no complaints here. JK JK etc.

I laughed at the Shane Ward reference, too. GR9 4 EBAY LISTING!

Funny you mention the plate, the car still wears etched glass, bearing that reg. I do fully intend to try and get it back.

TWO 80Y is currently not allocated to any car, and I have contacted the DVLA, who say to forward a written letter to my local office explaining why I would like it back, along with any 'evidence' to back up the claim, along with the V5c, photocopied MoT and tax disc and they will see what they can do.

Here's hoping!

There are quite a few pictures of this car online, from over the years. One guy (Bryan Guest) had it for 4-5 years, he tells me. Despite what it says on DVLA records, and it barely left his garage. So I was pleased to find more when I done some digging with his old forum names.

I am sure the mileage is currently 220K, but I also believe it to have sat around for a good 8-9 years. So that doesn't add up.

Still, it is an RS shell as it has the correct roof gutters, and is an early one as it has two-bolt front struts, so everything appears to be above board, as it did cast a little doubt initially.

I have been fortunate enough for the car to come with a fair bit of old history, MoT's from 1994 etc. Not bad at all, considering the amount of owners.

Just a shame I will never know everything about it. I like digging.

I do intend to send a S.A.E and letter to all previous owners, and see if they have any old photos, history etc. Can't hurt!

For sale in around 2007;

A couple I found from when Bryan Guest owned it, and the garage it languished in;

I love finding old pictures and info on cars I own. My last one only had one previous owner, so that was never gonna happen.

I even chanced across the Escort in a Youtube video from 2007. Albeit only a brief appeance.

Had it not featured on the video preview, I wouldn't have seen it. Lol.

A thought occurs...

When fannying on with the car on Friday, tidying up loose ends etc of which there are many (this car was fairly well stripped, when repanelled and repainted, then done a lot of standing around. I have had to reconnect and refit quite a few things) I noticed that the earth strap attached to the O/S inner wing, near the fuse box was not connected at the other end.

I presumed it was meant to earth on the bonnet hinge. When I looked, there had indeed been one connected to the bonnet previously.

So I attached this one to what I assumed it it's natual home.

I wonder, could it be the source of my battery charging woes?

I am still yet to look at the car. I probably will tomorrow.

it mustve had a similar plate but wow that has had some owners, I thought it was only rs turbos that got the car slag treatment, in 2002 I went to look at a red s2 turbo that had 27 previous keepers , luckily the mrs is the 4th owner of her s2 and its been a local car all its life, the guy we bought it off was a mate of the original owner and another of its previous owners mrs saw the car in my drive told her fella that "his baby" was still about and he came past a few times saw me out messing about stopped his hgv in the middle of the road had a chinwag we swapped numbers then spent an hour or 2 chatting on the phone about the car he was over the moon that she wasn't destroyed as most of them were. just one owner we havnt met but I don't know whether I want to as hes the one who did quite a few chavvy things to it.

Low mileage and owner cars are obviously best, but when the price is right, I will take a gamble.

I like to think I am this cars 'saviour'. Lol. It will be looked after, kept garaged, not ragged about, returned to an as original condition as I can etc.

Hopefully it appreciates me. I can only imagine it's had some careful* owners in it's days.

As can be seen by the list, the poor thing was whored around from day one.

Your wifes S2 sounds a cracker. Any pics?

As for the owners, if you can, then meet the other guy. If he's like most reformed car modifiers, he will no doubt appreciate OEM beauty these days!

What did he do, surely nothing too bad?

If that 27 keeper S2 is still around, I wonder how many more notches it has on it's bolster, 11 years on!

He had the car painted ash black metallic with coarse metallic flakes, he had the bumper cut out like they used to do for big front mount intercooler but kept a standard intercooler, a few other bits as well, we havnt changed anything on the body yet as she uses it daily, but it is being returned to the original black69/ a9 and standard bumper, the story behind the car how we got it is, we got told about this escort turbo that may be for sale, so we contacted the guy he said come have a look but dont set your hopes high, we got there and it was a good shell and 11 boxes of brand new engine parts mostly genuine Ford what wasn't Ford was high end manufacturers and block with a fresh overbore and modified head and other bits (there was so many parts the guy dropped them off in his work van) the Mrs felt sorry for it so struck a deal, then built it all up, she loves it and lovingly called her Sharon the shitter

My mate used to have a bad boyed S2, with the same big mouthed bumper etc.

The shame!

Mateys paint choice sounds 'interesting'.

I never usually name my cars, but 'Kylie' has stuck. I very rarely refer to the car as such, but it has stopped me inventing any other possible nicknames.

Mind, like the real deal, she does have a cracking arse.

it is indeed interesting colour choice not as bad as I make out though, on the upside at least he didn't go for rainbow flake lol I have at least put a double width intercooler on there so the cutout has something to push air towards haha, we have collected all the standard parts needed now so as soon as I have finished my capri the mrs can either use that or my sierra then im going to fire into getting this old girl the look she deserves

this is the car in question

Damn if those S2's don't just keep getting better looking with age!

Posted

Looking good. Always preferred the 16i to the S1 Turbo. I think they wear their age well and just look right for the period, all the colour coded plastic on the Turbo seems out of place now for some reason. Keep up with the work on the history it seems interesting, the fact it has survived all these years means something in itself. I think all RS's seem to get through owners, even now, a work mate and I went to look at an 03 plate Focus RS the other week that had seven owners and 85k on the clock. That started life in Scotland and the last owner lived in Leicester.
