wuvvum Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 OK, as I mentioned in the News 24 thread, my Twingo passed its MoT yesterday. Unfortunately due to my current storage problems I can't keep 'em all, so it's between this and the LNA - and the LNA wins, purely by virtue of the fact that I'll probably never find another, whereas Twingos come up for sale a bit more regularly. This one is a 1998 car, which means it's one of the last with the original interior (before they started fitting Clio interiors to them), although it's a bit more refined than the early cars, with a 4-speed fan, electric front windows, remote locking and intermittent wiper. It also has a full-length canvas sunroof, which doesn't leak and opens and closes fine. The bodywork is mostly pretty good, although there's a scratch / scrape on the passenger side door and a little bit of lacquer peel on one quarter - not particularly noticeable though as it's not a metallic finish. Mechanically it's fine - the engine has a slightly noisy tappet but pulls well and doesn't use vital fluids in any noticeable quantity. The car doesn't weigh very much so it's quite nippy even with 60 bhp, and it's good on petrol too. Occasionally it takes a couple of goes to start - it seems the immobiliser can get confused if you turn the key too soon after inserting it - it's old and French so doesn't do anything quickly. It always goes if you take your time though. The steering is unassisted but still perfectly manageable. The interior is all OK, with no major rips / tears / stains. The electrics all work, although there's no stereo fitted at the moment. Here's a picture - I'll take more tomorrow, weather permitting. I'd like to see £450 for it. Tax is just out, but can tax it at cost if need be.
Mr Lobster Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Wish I didn't have loads of things requiring money at the moment because I need a Twingo again. On the off chance that it doesn't sell and you still have it in a couple of months though......
hhhugues Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Got yours, strange you're not getting my PM. In case my reply fails too, all i was asking really for now is: where in the UK are you ?
wuvvum Posted April 28, 2013 Author Posted April 28, 2013 Here's some more pictures as promised. Offside: Scratch on offside door and lacquer-peely paintwork on rear wing: Pert little arse: Interior: Should probably have mentioned that I'm in Norfolk...
lovejoy Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 cute and tempting - (like most small females!!) but how much ??
KruJoe Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 That's good value at £450, and will only appreciate I reckon.
Guest Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 I ran one of those back in the late '90s. I swopped it for a 940 Estate.
Rod/b Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 I ran one of those back in the late '90s. I kept it in a 940 Estate. EFA.
hhhugues Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Wuvvum, pm'd you but who knows if it'll have worked. Have to step back, sadly. Someone buy it, these little things are great.
RobT Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Wuv let me have a drive of this when I collected the Sierra, and I'm not sure I stopped grinning the whole time, great fun Seats and upright driving position were quite comfy too, a bit like my Metro but with fewer trim rattles. GLWTS etc.
Pillock Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 I nearly bought one of these about twelve years ago, it had a R5GTT engine in it and was allegedly batshit. As I enquired further though, it had a R5GTT engine with all sorts of problems in it - not least a busted head gasket. And it needed a service which means having to drop the engine to get to everything, it was so packed in. Apparently when the digital dash gets to 199kph it freezes solid and has to be reset by a dealer.
