Talk to me about Skoda Felicias

Looking at picking a 1.3 LX one up for the business (young lads too expensive to insure on the 2.0lt stuff)

I do quite like then, seem very sensible and definate chod marks all round

Never owned one but I drove my grandfather's S-reg one a few years ago (when it was relatively new) and found it very agreeable - nippy, responsive and reasonably comfortable. In fact, I thought it was a better all-round car than the Golf it replaced.

It was very reliable as well (until he crashed it into a skip).

Drove an estate last Thursday, seemed to be ok. Make sure it's got power steering......

ah....not power steering, not sure if I will get the doris to drive a car without power steering!

They're a giggle to throw around anything twisty and are a very good compact estate car. They have the basic charm of a Skoda that you'd want but with some of the solidness to the interior trims that you'd expect from VW, with the exception of the cocktail-cabinet glovebox which feels flimsy but is brilliant anyway.

I massively enjoyed mine until the headgasket went pop and it rusted away. But one that hasn't spent it's life on the coast and/or been allowed to freeze with plain water instead of coolant in the system...

My Dad had two of these from new good reliable cars but don't think he put a great amount of milage on them.

The only problem he had was one of them broke three windscreens which was eventually traced to a spot weld that needed to be ground down.

I,v had one in the family now for nearly 10yrs and its been a cracking motor good on fuel and never let us down its an early M plate 1.3 LXi id have another no problem they are a lot better than most of the other stuff thats about with better badges and great in the snow if there's any snags they are prone to snapping coil springs and rust around the front strut tops.

I drove one for 5 months, it's reliable and quite nippy.

I always think interiors make up half of the appeal to me and the felicias was really nice. The heater blows extremely hot, but if it isn't, the thermostat has broken from its plastic casing.

Also windscreen can leak, this is cured by sealing up the lip of the rubber seal - easy!

Worst thing is the rattly pushrod engine. You'll hear it coming a mile away and it sounds knackered but it isn't. The boot is HUGE and made bigger by removable rear seats. I'd definitely have another one.

If you need a parcel shelf, I have one you can have FOC.
