additives for power steering

Do any shitters know if you can get any additives that stop power steering racks leaking? The rack in my SD1 appears to have a leak, some fluid around one of the rubber boots.

I could probably get another used rack, however it is a PITA to change (engine has to be jacked up) and I would like to get it MOT'd at some point in the very near future. I thought somebody on here may know if there is any snake oils that do the job.

Anybody recommend anything?

I tried some green stuff from somewhere, can't remember what it was, but it made the leak worse. I ended up replacing the rack after wasting £6 on the useless fluid.

If its coing from the rubber boot then maybe £5 on a new boot will sort it. Is it PAS fluid or just the oil/grease from inside the rack? I suspect the latter, in which case an additive won't even get near it never mind fix it

Another vote for the lucas stuff. It even works on disco steering boxes.

I tried the Wynns stuff on my Vectra rack when the o/s seal failed and it didn't touch it one bit, made it much, much worse in fact.

These work by swelling the rubber seals throughout the PAS system so cause more harm that good in the long term.
