Speaking of cameras, what do you use? I really need something that's good at close up pictures of small subjects like that, especially for when I put things on eBay!

Most cameras have a macro mode (identified by a button with a tulip icon) designed for close-up photos.
Posted

Yes, I use that don't worry, but still need something that produces better results. I guess the more optical zoom you've got the better. Something camera phones don't have!

Posted

Ah! :P Olympus cameras have a 'super macro' mode which is pretty good, and anything you buy from them will have at least a 3x optical zoom.

regie, i see in earlier posts here you have a leyland t45? in largeish scale. where did you get this?

In Geest livery? It's white metal, 1/48 very heavy. Came from a toy Swapmeet thing 2 or 3 years ago, 45 quid or something like that. Based on a Hart Smith casting I think, although it has no manufacturer name on it. I ended up telling the vendor about it as he didn't know. Also got a couple of ERFs from that manufacturer too

bleedin eck, just checked out the german ebay, and the schabak stuff on there is cheap as chipsthere is a 1/24 scorpio (granada) for £5.99  ive just asked how much the seller wants for postagethank god for translators.

Posted

If they did one in 1/43 I'd have one, but there never was... :?

Although I saw Neo are bringing out a nice one

http://www.alpimodel.com/neo/43335.html

Shame they're now not much short of 50 quid each. Could get 2 Minichamps for that!

Posted

well he got back to me and said postage is 12 euros....Im not sure, i have my eye on something else atm too, which is also international but is 1:43 and cheaper....Why is neo so expensive? It doesnt look to be that much better quality than minichamps.Oxford Diecast have actually started doing 1:43 now, and its not bad, but they charge near enough £20 for a Jenson Interceptor. Aiming too high?I got a schabak Sierra for £2.35 last night :D

Posted

NEO is very expensive but the quality is superb, really is a step above Minichamps which themselves are very good. Same as Spark really - it's the small details which set them apart which is mainly because they are resin models rather than diecast

New NEO Prelude looks lovely

Posted Image

These Spark Transits are fantastic

Posted Image

Oxford Diecast 1/43 stuff varies a bit. The MG Magnette was lovely, really well done, the Interceptor is pretty good as are the Daimler limos they have done. Some of the other (earlier) stuff is a bit variable.

Posted

ah its resin! Now i understand.Ive seen those spark transits quite a lot actually, would love the penthouse MKI, but its so expensive.Yeh I remember when Oxford wasnt really anything special, now they keep expanding their range.Although for some odd reason, the consul/granada they did as a one off (but still very much a toy) sells for stupid money now? Why is that.

Not aware of that one, are you thinking of Richmond Toys? They did the Sweeney car in an odd scale which I have an example of. It's an ok likeness but nothing special, wasn't aware they had value! Amongst a few other things, they did the white Jaguar from Minder too but I don't have it.I don't have a problem with Spark, I have a couple in my collection, neither costing more than £30 a piece which is ok by me as I appreciate they have a greater attention to detail & are indeed resin. However, £30-40 I can put up with for the odd model here & there but not £40-50 which Neo seem to be! It's for that reason I've never succumbed to any white metal models preferring to wait until a diecast is available (apart from the very odd exception, bought second hand.). It annoys me that Neo seem to be coming thick & fast with some very tasty subjects for models which nobody else has done before & I'm sure it won't be long before I'm forced to succumb, but nearly a ton for choosing just a couple of examples means it'll eat up a much bigger chunk of money than my Minichamps buying habit was! I'll resent having to give other things up in order to plough all my money into Neos! Maybe I'll have to keep looking out for second hand examples...
Posted

Regie youre right again, it is a richmonds toys release. But yeh i saw one go for £30 the other day, mental.I cant afford minichamps, they are well worth the money, but sadly i only have 2 models from them.I jst secured myself another bargain, the austin allegro and austin 1800 set for a fiver!

Posted

I've looked at that set many times & pondered if it was worth stumping up for purely because of the Allegro in lurid green, as I'm not bothered about the Austin 1800. I have the hidden treasures one, that's good enough for me! :) But then the 1750 SS in turquoise came out & suddenly the bright green one didn't feel as urgent!

Posted

I did want the SS, but at least i now have an allegro!I want the 1.3 marina now, the one with the split grille.Theres an altaya tagora ending soon, and its got no bids, hopefully i can get myself that.

Posted

I love the early split grille'd Marina, it gives the car such a different look, so I was thrilled to add a model of one in harvest gold to my collection. I don't think they've done many of the early type grille ones, in fact the harvest gold one is the only one I can picture! I have the Tagora in black.

Posted

they did another one in blue, which is currently the most likely one ill get. The tagora is in white, im miffed because the seller has also got a MKII granada for sale, but its now been bid up quite a lot....

Posted

Yes, unfortunately the IXO MkII Granada & the Taunus (MkV Cortina) are subject to a bit of Ford scene tax. I probably paid slightly more for mine although not excessively, poss about the equivalent of £15 each.

Posted

Oooh I'll have to get the Neo Prelude even if I never have any of their other models. On the subject of that Sweeney Granada, I'm surprised Vanguards have never done a tie-in with theirs - it would sell like hot cakes :?

Posted

I don't know if it's still the case, but I didn't think they were allowed to as Richmond Toys got in there first more's the pity & held the rights to make models of it....or something like that.

Posted

The amount of things ive got through bad listings is quite funny, but i feel sorry for the seller too.I might take that gold SD1, if it stays below £3.The transcontinental came today, such a large model, what sort of scale is it?
