Send me some money, I'll send you one in the post! Didn't intend to end up with 2 white ones, see, just got a bit 'bid happy' the other day.

Tempted by the Hidden Treasures Stag. My old man had a Pimento red one back in the late-80's (which he sold before the prices went mental). The only car I remember him being excited about picking up and the only one I cried about him getting rid of (I was about 10).After he flogged it he looked about buying one with a transplanted it Ford V-6 but it wouldn't have been the same.Is there any non-hidden treasures Pimento Red Stag's with the later five spoke wheels?

Dearie me, I would have bought that. It's an almost perfect match for my real one.

Theres a few different Vanguards Stags but the Hidden Treasures one is the only red one I think. There is / was a 1/18 scale Stag in red available, manufactured by either Jadi or Revell - can't remember which at the moment

Theres lots of these 'modified' models on the bay - I only knew of one seller when I bought a modified Audi A8 in 1/18 scale from him a few years back. However it was not as extensively modified as the above models, or as well.THe Escort is lovely!

I'm watching a blue & white Hillman Avenger 'Top Hat' special but am hoping they come down in price eventually as most of the non Ford stuff does!

Out of curiosity, whats the score with something like thishttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MK1-ESCORT-RS2000 ... 286.c0.m14Can you buy the individual bits like the wheels and the Cossie engine or do they buy other models and pick all the choice bits off?Really liking this with the Ronals on it as wellhttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1-18-RENAULT-5-GT ... 911.c0.m14

That Escort looks like it uses the Minichamps RS 1600 FAVO as the base model which I've got in my collection (in 1/18 & 1/43).Not sure about the R5 GT Turbo though, not seen it before, all I know is I like it, I like it a lot! 8)

Oh right, so is that one that's been customised going for a premium? (can't see eBay at work)

Posted

Yes, customised one is currently at £40, our is on t'bay at £38.99. RRP is about £44.99 so I would imagine the modified one will go up a good bit further yet.On a similar note, we used to supply a guy who was customising Solido 1/18 Mk1 Golf GTi's, doing pretty much the same thing as the R5 - big wheels, exhaust etc. He was getting about £65 each on them which considering RRP was about £20 and we were selling them in bulk at less than that means he was making a reasonably happy profit. Until Solido deleted the model from their range anyway.

Posted

Yes, I bought a black & silver one of those for about £13 on the bay a few years ago. Solido were a bit strange (for strange read lazy?) about their 1/18 though as they would only give them opening doors, possibly a bonnet but not bother with anything else. 1/18 Minichamps is effectively a real vehicle shrunk down, which is how it should be! I've never owned a 1/18 Norev so far though...

Gotta say (without trying to sound like I'm trying to sell them), Norev 1/18 are very good quality, not the cheapest but they are pretty good.

just gone a bit mental on the bay.Bought myself a Schabak Ford Escort, and im currently bidding on 2 classic corgi models, a senator and a sierra MKITheres a corgi maestro ending soon, that i can link you lot to thats currently at 99pit ends tomorrow around 8.....anyone interested?i would go for it myself, but im thinking ive bid on too much, i also have a best offer pending too.Bare in mind though, the seller who is selling the maestro is also selling 2 i have bids on, so no bidding on them. Lobster how many of those 1/24 Renault 5s do you have? I have been tempted for a very long time....

Posted

I really fancy the 1/24 Quattro but I'm wondering how it can possibly be as good as it looks especially for the price!

Also 1/24 would be a bit of a cuckoo in my collection not fitting in with my largely 1/43 & marginal 1/18. However, as with my rule for buying a 1/18, if it's that good or it's a car that I've owned in real life I will make an exception for it!

Who makes those 1/24 models & how come they're no more expensive than the 1/43, if not cheaper, when 1/18 are nearly always a lot more expensive?? :?

We've still got a few left. We bought about 100 of them and they have sold really well as they are pretty nice.

The 1/24 models are from an Italian issued part work series. If I can find it I'll stick a link up that one of our customers sent which shows the full series.Quality is pretty good and they have all sold really well. The price? Well, they cost us pretty much the same as the 1/43 partwork stuff so thats what we sell 'em at! The don't have any manufacturer brand on them but they are made by / for Quattroruote but who they are is a mystery!

The majority of those 1/24 scale cars are very good, the R5 in particular. I only got the Alfa Giulia as it's one of my favourite cars. The others in the range mainly duplicate 1/43s I already have.By the way Mr. L can you let us know as soon as the Minichamps Mk1 Golf becomes available please, I really need to have one of those!

Posted

I predict it will be available sometime in the next year...
