Man Maths and other spurious partner convincing stories.

Having used the 'man maths' method of persuading Mrs Beard why my latest purchase of some tatty old heap is a 'good idea', I wondered what your methods of domestic persuasion are?

Some of mine have been:

It will do 70 mpg and save us money on fuel.

I will run it for a year, do it up and sell it at a profit.

It will fly through its next MOT, it is so cheap, so will run it. put it through an MOT, then sell it on Ebay at a profit.

I read somewhere that these cars are going to be collectors items soon.

If it does break down I can break it and sell the parts for three times what it cost us...

Etc...

All bollocks of course. No truth in any of the above, but at least you get to buy the car.

:D

I'm getting it at scrap value so worse case scenario I can weigh it in and get my money back... LOL!

I set the tone with my now Mrs when we met and now she doesn't ask any questions. She even let me rent the lock up she has for 20 quid a month, have to hand it to her!

However I always use man maths when it comes to car stuff! That's why I'm always skint!

Like my partner has any choice at all in what I purchase? I just tell him "This is my new car" and he laughs.

Not car related, but...

High strength beer is better for you.

Special Brew contains more alcohol by volume, than Scandia "Junior Beer. Why, you ask? Well it's this. With the Special Brew etc. ore of the sugar turns to alcohol right, therefore, by drinking the stuff, you are imbibing LESS sugar, therefore it is a SLIMMING BEER.

Usually followed by "I'm never getting in it though unless you get rid of those Pound Land Wheel Trims/8 Track/furry dice" etc etc...

Haha. Man math is required, my usual one is "Well, if I don't get it and the "Insert Current Car Here" breaks down, it's your fault and YOU can pay the repair bills because it was YOUR idea to keep it ... - Standard.

Or "I'll tart it up and teach you to drive in it, saving money on driving lessons"...

(That's never been true, of course!)
