BIODIESEL suppliers, are there any still out there?

I'm still considering Cavette's Kia PPL CARRYIER as a shite family holdall, however to bring down the price of running a 2.9 diesel auto beast i'm looking at fuelling it with biodiesel (not waste veg oil). The only problem is that nobody seems to supply it anymore. Most of the online links lead to websites that don't work or haven't been updated since 2006. I have rang a couple of local places and the numbers are no longer in use. The only price I have found online is £1.10 per litre, which obv sounds great but I fear it's from about 2004 or something.

Have all the biodiesel suppliers gone out of business???

Quick question: Why spend £1.10 per litre for 'bio diesel' when you can buy SVO (new veg oil) for £1.00 per litre?

*Edit: there was a garage in E.Port selling bio diesel, but the quality was so random a lot of people gave it a swerve. I was reliably told if the pez tanker hadn't been cleaned out in a while that all the shit at the bottom went into the fuel station's tanks and subsequently the vehicles of people who filled up there.

I got some filters from eBay (about £8.00 I think) then scored some waste from a chippy and 'blended' it myself with sterling advice from Mr Horse Train.

I think SVO knackers some engines while BIO is fine in everything, I'm a bit of a NOOB when it comes to veg oil. Where can you get SVO for £1 a litre then?

Sadly it seems most Biodiesel firms have died off. What hit them hard was the change in legislation about being able to brew up your own and not pay duty. The companies producing fuel to sell still had to pay the duty. Nice of the government to support these fledgling pioneers...

I honestly wouldn't know in the Kia, Tim, but SVO runs perfectly well in an XUD engine, that's for sure! That is based on me assuming SVO means 'straight vegetable oil' as in new veg oil, by the way.

There are a couple of restaurant suppliers locally who sell it for either £19.99 or (if you're feeling flash) £20.99 for 20 litres.

The best thing about proper biodiesel is the possibility of it being manufactured from animal fat, and then watching a vegan buy some.

Also, when you think about it, WVO has come from SVO, the only difference being all the shit the chippy have blended in to it!

Pug XUD engines will run on veg, but not advisable if it has a lucas pump. you WILL kill it.

Only biodiesel supplier I know is in Widnes. £1.29 if you put it straight in your car, £1.10 if you put it in a can for off road use. I think what has killed many bio producers is the increase in tax they must charge on fuel for road use, that and some of the product being variable quality.

The Widnes people (Fuller Fuels) seem to make a quality product, but they're a good distance away from you...

Sounds like it's a case of brew your own, or get a car that can run on SVO then!
