Bitter SC update........

After getting it back home after a 3 breakdown return trip, I seem to have bought a half decent car, but one that has been subjected to a life time of half arsed bodged repairs, which I'm slowly unpicking. As those of you familiar with ye olde Opel cam-in-head straight six will know, that the injection models have weird twin injector inlet manifolds, which seem to be made out of Bakerlite.all three of these where cracked to a degree, and badly glued /bodged, the centre one very badly, causing a huge airleak. The exhaust manifold gasket has blown in the same place, so that's being fixed at the moment.

Hopefully these two fixes will stop the exhaust glowing at working temperature [i suspect it's been running ridiculously lean] I hope no permanant damage has been done..............

The central locking didn't work, mainly because some cretin had cut both the solenoids out, so that is being sorted. None of the keys work the locks, so I'm going to convert the thing to remote locking whilst I'm at it. The aircon / stroke heater controls don't seem to do much, so that's next on the list.............along with the panel lights, and a very corroded front sidelight. Pics to follow.

That sounds like fun.

I find iIts as much working out what failed & how it was bodged, as to the repair itself?

Well done - keep at it..
