Wanted - Cheap and Cheerful Shite (Mids location a bonus!)

A good friend of the family is again car-less since their bargain-basement Ford KA suddenly expired. She's not flush, so I said I'd help find something cheap and cheerful.

 

I've been scouring the local free-ads and flea-bay on her behalf, but so far I've failed to turn anything up that isn't water-soluble, imminently dead or in need of as much work as the last vehicle. In the past, I've been lucky at swiftly digging up decent cheap motors, but as per usual, when you're looking for something, there's nothing suitable out there...

 

I know it's a long shot, but I thought I'd post on here and see if anyone was about to part with something which may fit the bill.

 

Specs: Uber-cheap (preferably sub-£400), Ideally MOT-ed or MOT-able, Tax a bonus, anything considered (large, small, whatever) and ideally in the Midlands.

Cavalier 1.8 hatchback? Shit loads of MOT (April I think) dead reliable but has a different coloured door (white instead of met. green) and the bonnet looks like it was sprayed by a drunken, lobotomised chimp in the dark then washed with a wire wool.

It will however be within budget including 6 months tax.

How about a Mazda 323F 1.5 LX, R reg, silver, no MOT or Tax and needs rear shock, CV boots and a tyre for MOT. High miles (158,000), but runs and drives very well and everything works.

 

£200 as is. (car is in Norwich).

Alternator iffy with everything on.

Drips a bit of oil.

Front bumper brackets broken (whoops Vectra).

Plods on all day - glacier like, but reliable.

Reasonable tyres. 7 or 8 months Mot, can tax for next week or so.

 

50/50 veg not a problem ^^

 

Reasonable leather interior.
