I had two old motors in for MOT yesterday:

'Old Faithful' enjoying her 3rd MOT in my ownership. 24,000 miles racked up since this time last year (60k in total since I got it). Result: first time pass!!!! Fuggin brilliant! Bodywork is looking a bit tired now mind you.

This old crock joined my fleet via LankyTim, who cottoned on that it was going for scrap so scooped it up and passed it on to me, as I had noticed it once before (it belonged to some neighbours of his extended family). Its had the last owner for 17 years, 85k on the clock and pretty much 100% unmolested, save for a shocking paint job on one front wing. its a 1.6TX and runs lovely. Failed the MOT on a sticky brake, ARB bushes and a rear wheel bearing, so i will fix that lot then it will be looking for a new home, if anyone is looking for a straight old dub to ruin with identikit 'ratluk' wankery get in touch!

RESULT!

I'd noticed your hankering for a Jetta, and sadly as you allude to it'll probably end up in the hands of some 'original' simpleton who'll ruin it. At least you won't have to bother doing any paintwork, it'll help with the 'rat look' for a new owner. Having said that are you not tempted to run a mop over it? Realise the wing paint is shit but I bet the rest of the paint would come up ace afterwards.

yeah i'm defo going to have a sesh on it with the mop, i'm sure I can improve the wing a bit as well.

YAY!

My Rover went straight through on Friday, I've only done about 23K in just over 3 year ownership tho'.

20k odd a year in an old Rover? that's not bad going!

Glad to see the Jetta is getting some TLC. It was a day away from being collected by a scrappy when I cottoned on to it, I would have been gutted find out it had been hiabbed away! Apparently the old boy who owned it didn't want to get rid but his son had pretty much bullied him into getting a newer car. The son insisted the old Jetta was scrapped but fortunately I knocked on the door when he was at work. The old fella was chuffed to bits to see it saved. Even if it does get ratted to death, that's better than beccoming frag feed.

Giz a clue about that old Jetta, Bolls. It may be a good cheap snotter for someone I know. It'll be looked after.

Come up a treat that Mr B. Could I humbly suggest losing the jump leads in the picture/s though? Only say it because believe it or not it will detract some potential buyers who will think the battery or alternator is knackered or something.

Sold this tonight to a nice lad who drove up from Leek, he liked it, we did a deal, he counted out the cash, I did the paperwork and off he went. Fantastic!
