another returning tax question...

Just thinking to myself about returning the tax on the Escort for a refund for October as I won't use it but it's the Uttoxeter show next Sunday on the 30th. You are supposed to send the disc back before the 1st day of the month, I can't do that as I need to use it on the Sunday!

WTF am I supposed to do, just another friggin con from the dvla.

Send it back on the 1st, but sign and date it 29th or summert, they won't be arsed to argue about a day.

I thought it needed to be postmarked or something...and also thought about a photocopy but don't want a fine for failure to display although my neighbour was running around with an August expired tax disc until last thursday!

It's health and safety gone mad! You can't even declare a threshing machine SORN while you throw yourself into it.

I don't think many coppers bother with "failure to display" any more as they rarely pull anyone over to check the tax disc - if their clever spy computer tells them it's taxed they won't bother to investigate any further. "Failure to display" is only likely if you leave the car parked at the side of the road and it gets spotted by a traffic warden / reported by the nosy old bat over the road.

I'll stick a photocopy in the window and keep a copy of the V14 in the car..

Will prob be arrested under the 'incitement to terrorism' act for daring to suggest this but the whole population should have a month's amnesty on displaying any tax disc - it's a fraud, barely any of the money is spent on funding the roads or their (our) safety.

The photocopy makes you look guilty, just bung it in the post Sunday (30th) night. I've never had an issue with getting the cheque doing this.

trouble is I never send anything to doovla without using recorded delivery, they 'lost' our driving licences when we moved costing us £50. What will a copy of the v14 make me look guilty of?? Officer, I have sent the tax back to get a refund for October but the car is still taxed for use today.

I was sending a logbook back to the DVLA on saturday, went to the post office. PO woman says:

'dyou want a proof of postage?'

'Naaah'

'are you sending a logbook back? if so i'd get one if I was you, saves hassle when they say you havent sent it':lol::lol::lol:
