CXM Rally - selected highlights

So, it was the Citroen Car Club's CXM Rally this weekend. I'm not a CCC member but entrance to the event was free - I was slightly insulted that this was considered the main reason so many BXs were there. Are we really such cheapskates? A few quid to get in wouldn't have added much to the fuel costs to get there!

Anyway, I won't focus much on the CX, XM and Xantias as there were plenty of other interesting motors about. Like Chris Salter's Maxi, seen here with six-cylinder's Visa 17RD and a GTi for comparison. Chris slept in the Maxi. Nice one!

My mate Dom brought along his rolling wreck of a CX diesel. Excessive use of gaffer tape. It's ace.

We had a convoy to Bletchley Park, which is an incredible place. I could have done with more hours to spend there.

Back at the campsite, this honey had turned up. Acty camper!

Almost all of the Xantias were V6s. A couple were Activas. One was both - built specially as we never got them in RHD form over here. I really do like the styling.

This Xantia was perfect.

A super-rare GSA Special. As with the 2CV, Special translates as Popular ie no frills at all. Not even a rear wiper.

Travelling to and from the show was horrible. Things like this kept happening.

here's a little more balance to Ian's photos - saw the GT for the first time in the flesh - it was easily the worst BX there! There were some superb cars all round - putting my tatty old XM estate to shame - remind me to wash it for next time ...

Of course, my trip over and back was punctuated by empty roads, 65-70mph wafting and 34mpg average.

Oh, and I got a sunroof wind deflector for the XM! Yeah!

Managed to sort a few pictures out - here's some of the Saturday.

The start of the glorious weather, and cars slowly filtering in.

Good to see Mr Emblem's GTi Turbo again that he's had for a very long time - bought from Roger "back in the day" and still wears the CX Centre Plates. Aftermarket Wheels are due to the TRX Tyres cost, although original T Slots are in the garage...

Some more XMs...

A different view-point from the back of the field, note Andy filling up his Xantia!

This ZX Volcane 3 Door was a cracking car to see - didn't manage to chat with the owners I don't think but a lovely lovely car...

Mr Seabrook's Green Tiger BX stands out a bit in the line-up...

The starts of the formation of the convoy drive to Bletchley Park. We had 39 cars start off, and 35 made it... Never saw the other four...

And some more at the back including Chris' V6 and Dean's Activa:

Sunday pictures will follow once they've been sorted out...

The convoy pictures look like a collection of cars where an idea was penned, and then everyone allowed to do their own thing with it. Citroens are awesome, and seemingly singular, for this particular habit.

That looks like a good do! I'm really hankering after another Citroen although The Fuhrer will almost certainly veto any proposal.

Holy moly, it's your Mk1's big brother

Grand pictures gents, thanks. Is it wrong to like the 6-wheeler?

Some nice pictures there. I did think about popping up to this for a day and now I'm mad I didn't.

Thanks, and here's some from the Sunday:

En route to Little Horwood from the hotel on the Sunday Morning we had an impromptu convoy with Sandre/Caffiend with her BX TZD Turbo through all most of Milton Keynes finest roundabouts...

Also spotted James in his Prestige coming the opposite way so had to take a quick snap...

The field was filling up nicely, and here's a view from the back of the field...

Jason's V6 looking very smart indeed, and Darren's XM V6 in the background. Both went to go onto win 1st Prizes for Xantia and XM...

My C4 looking deceptively clean. Eagle eyed people will spot the XM Bodykit stashed in it...

Was great to see this CX again as it used to be one of ours - a DTR Turbo 2...

...and this GTi Turbo 2 as well:

This particular CX won Best CX this year - the owner has owned it from new!
