Is this the dullest car in the world?

Ha ha, that hatchback Betaphile posted looks laughably crap!

Also..

...Corsair badges and a blue oval...

Those semi-circular sidelights reminded me of the Nissan Presea - a 'Hardtop' variant on the theme:

But that one is more likely based on this newer Bluebird:

Speaking of comedy sidelights...

That must be one mentionable feature?

I've spotted a few of these in Chiang Mai, I think badged as Bluebirds.

They're no more common than the Presea, and I don't know if either were sold there officially along side the Sentra (Sunny) and Cefiro ranges.

In late 1989 - about the same time it debuted - my dad was looking at a new Ford Laser (locally-built badge-job 323) and out of interest cast an eye over the dealer's Corsair. Even though it was more expensive (bigger margin) and Ford at that point had absolutely no problems shifting Lasers, the dealer only had a few words to offer re the Corsair.

"Don't waste your time with that..."

I wonder why they'd say that about a Stanza/Bluebird variant - surely it would be a reliable old bus anyway?

And the Nissan Almera is the dullest car in the world IMHO.

Ok so they're no lookers (although better with the mk.1 facelift), but they're not too bad to drive and the GTI is supposed to be a cracker

The GTI is, indeed, a hoot to drive. More ordinary versions aren't that bad either, from my limited experience.

Well I went out in the old crate tonight, and I'm disappointed to announce that I found an interesting feature. Those comedy long sidelights aren't actually sidelights at all - they're corner lights, which come on with the indicators to light the way round corners - kind of like the way a lot of modern German stuff lights one foglight. The sidelights are actually in the headlights.

I also gave the thing a thorough Italian tune-up, of which it was in dire need - now that some of the crap has been burned off it feels somewhat sprightlier, and managed to get to 60 in 9.6 seconds, which isn't bad for a 20-year-old heap with 227,000km on the clock. The tendency to get hot and bothered seems to have disappeared too (touch wood). The front wheel bearing is still going to need sorting sooner rather than later though - I'm hoping it'll the same as a U11 Bluebird, as I don't fancy the postage costs on a bearing kit from Oz.

I look after a 99 1.4 'Ambition' with 220000 + miles from new on the original clutch and fanbelts still, and it just keeps on going ! Original shocks expired at about 188000 as did the center and back exhaust. Original rear discs went off earlier this year, but the fronts are still original.Boring yes,but very reliable and well bolted together

Wonderd if this would turn up

What's the story on it

Why did someone bring it over from Aus ?

There's a bit of a Japanese theme on this thread...in fairness they have produced some of the most uninspired cars of all time...

We were in the States a couple of years ago and I have to say practicality was definately the style of the day...we had a Jeep Compass which was great to drive but a real let down looks-wise (but not dull).
