I don't look at cars like the Lotus and think "that's shit." I just look at it and wonder why. Effectively, this lowering and 'stance love' often seems to be all about making a car look good as a static object and to hell with usability. It especially confuses me because people like Seth (and quite a lot of RR folk to be fair) seem such nice, intelligent (RR is another largely txt tlk 3 forum and all the better for it) people. I shall continue to amble around with a baffled expression on my face, like I do when I encounter children playing those little computer things rather than running around outside throwing sticks at each other.

 

I'm genuinely sad to have missed another Retro-Rides meet as every one I've been to has been an absolute pleasure. For every badly 'SPRING CHOPPED YO ROOFRACK N RUST INNIT' twatmobile, there's often at least two genuinely fabulous machines. Some of them even have a proper ride height!

The pickup is an Avenger estate, converted to take the longer two-door doors, chopped down into a pick-up, and fitted with sunbeam front panels (which bolt straight on as the structure is identical between sunbeam and Avenger). Theres some dude on R-R called ‘Avenbeam’ who has a sunbeam fitted with Talbot avenger front wings, bonnet etc, it looks weird.

Love the old Datsun 120Y and 180B SSS. My auntie had an auto 120Y saloon and a mate got given his Dad's ancient '71 160B, it was one of the most fucked cars I've ever been in - real 'watch the world go by under your feet' stuff! We made it all the way to Arran in it once, 5 up and a full of clobber, those were the days.....
