Granada Tyres..... How much?????

Well after about 7 years of Triumph ownership I find myself sans Triumph. Feels a bit odd to be honest. So in a vain attempt to make the odd feeling go away I bought a mate's Mk2 Granada 2.8 Ghia. Needs a basic service, battery and a couple of tyres. Of course it has the metric tyres, why would it not? Been there with a Montego and Jags.

Wasn't quite prepared for the mind numbing, ball breaking, wallet emptying cost. 190/65 R390 89H - anywhere between £250 to £330 each for a decent brand.:shock::shock::shock:

Bollox to that. Still fancy the car but surely there has to be alternatives. Mk3 Grannie wheels? Anything?

Advice purleese before I go and buy a Corsa instead.

Ta loads.

Surely you can find some 'non-metric' wheels and fit them instead? I think (but don't quote me) standard wheel size was 14" and I'm damned sure not all Mk2 Garanda alloys were metric.

Oh well spotted that bloke! Cheers.

Still nearly as much as I paid for the car for 2 tyres :lol::lol:

I've tried looking for the non-metric wheels as that would make more sense in the long run but I just can't seem to get the advice re: making sure the offset/PCD and all other meaningless things (to me) are correct. I'd be happy to get a different set of alloys, no problem. If I could find 'em.

Only some 2.8 Ghia 's and injections had the metric wheels but definatly not all of them

find a banger racer who races mk2'sand ask them for them

Cheers for the linky re: Mk2 steelies! They are now mine, mine I say!!!! They are off an LX but I actually prefer the steelies.

That is bloody brilliant. Mind you, I have been typing in variations on Granada, wheels, tyres, everything for the last couple of hours but these didn't show up once! Bloody typical.

Thanks very much folks, hugely appreciated. I will post up some pics of the Grannie when i get the chance.

Good tip about the banger boys to be honest.

A few weeks ago, somebody posted a photo of a Mk2 Granada on these wheels...

I can't find the pic now, but it looked completely ACE, and I'm not even a fan of Granadas.

Only injection Granadas came with TRX rims. I think they look ace on 'em.

Hi Ken, a guy I know bangers a few granadas. If you need anything let me know and ill message him for you.

TRX's do look the biz but christ, I can't afford tyres like that. The 14" steelies will do just dandy for now.

Cheers mate, I shall PM you shortly.

Thanks again guys.

If you've got a decent set of TRX rims, the Mk2 I've just bought has 14" alloys....

I'll have a word with a few tyre blokes I know, we may be able to come to an agreement... Unless it turns out that BBS RS would cost me less than a set of tyres...

Sounds interesting Pete, I'm over at the storage on saturday, I'll take some pics of the TRX wheel and PM them to you. See what you think.

Cheers

My mate had Mk2 alloys on his Mk1 and vice-versa, back in the 80s, so there's no problem interchanging the factory-issued 14s. Several styles to choose from, enjoy!

The Mk2 Granada 2.8 Ghia originally came with 14" wheels in a similar style to the Injection's TRX wheels, but in silver rather than finished in white. They were fitted with 185 SR 14 tyres from the factory.
