Film Work

Aha, that would be the film that Bury lass Elaine Constantine (real name Fletcher) is making about Northern Soul.

Best man for motors of that era in Bury would be Tony Scanlon at Croft Street Garage.

ps. you used to be able to buy Northern Soul-friendly Oxford Bags with a 3-button waistband and 40 inch (really) bottoms on Bury Market.

...Tony Scanlon at Croft Street Garage...

Blimey, Steve - I thought Ted Roach had branched out a bit...

Yo Lyingscotsman, I think I recognise your car park, did you have a modified 1275cc Moggy on ebay about 2 years ago? My other half was after it, but we ended up with Granny_Bol's Fiesta instead.

And you'll be VERY close to Bury during August, too

I will indeed, but I don't think the estate will be on the road until the week after

I've got an F-reg Triumph 1300 that would look about right for a well looked after 6 to 7 year old car in 1974 if that would fit the bill anywhere on set.

I'm in East Yorkshire so not a million miles away.

I'd expect a Triumph 1300 would be a better bet as a 17 year old girl would have been more likely to own one of those rather then a big Mk3 Cortina Estate.

Put it this way, can you imagine many 17 y/o girls driving a 2009 year old Mondeo Estate now instead of a 2004 Rover 25 1.4?

Modern cars do tend to last a bit longer nowadays, but I reckon that's a bit optimistic.

Unfortunately I doubt it'll arrive in Blighty in time, but when it does it'll be available for just this kind of film work. As will my mk1 Metro van. They will probably land towards the end of September, after which they'll be Lake District-based.

Hi Fred, would an H-reg Triumph Vitesse do? It's solid but not concours.
