Audi 100 Avant for sale OMG LPG GP DHSS

As I have bought the Audi Coupe I once again have run out of room for cars and one has to go. Despite common sense telling me to keep this mingebag motor, I have decided to punt Auswitch on and once again suffer extreme petrol prices.

MOT till April 2013 and tax till the end of November. It has rust that I have just covered with hydrate 80 every now and then keep telling myself I will sort it out properly next week.....

Has literally just over 178,000 miles and I might even chuck in the aviator shades.

However it has a MOUNTAIN of spares with it. Spare doors, spare wings about 20 door handles. Tim probably gave me enough stuff to construct another car. Will try and take a photo of it tomorrow.

Currently not running on petrol as I really am tighter than a gnats chuff and did not run it on petrol for so long I let the carb dry out, so it now pisses petrol directly onto the manifold, which I understand is not good if your intention is not to set fire to the car. Am currently trying to find a kit to repair this.

Its huge in the back and can easily fit mountain bikes with the wheels on etc (which is why I got it). Its even big enough to sleep in with ease. However I am currently giving up mountain biking as the parts are too damn expensive.

It is absolutely bob on for someone who wants to look like a 1980's GP who has maybe been struck off for his drinking but is still holding onto his glory days by driving a 100 Avant. I bet Harold Shipman had one of these before he got his Renault Espace.

Here is Tims original FS thread.

I have to admit I think the only thing I have sorted from his list of bad bits is the clamp on the midsection of the exhaust that was too big. Never needed to do anything else to it, its bob on and as I am writing this I am wondering why I am selling it.....

I am putting this on here first for an Autoshite special of £500. Car is located in the centre of Leeds.

This car is capable of towing an avenger out of an essex field and A-framing it all the way home

I do miss this car, its bloody painful running a Volvo 240 petrol wise. LPG is mega easy on the wallet!

Do you know what sort of carb this is Tim? You say its from an Audi 80 sport. Do you know what sort is it so I can get a rebuild kit for it? Am going to pour myself a scotch and do some t'interweb digging but if you know that would help.

Also Volksy just pointed out when I was at the pub having a pint with him, that I need to assure everyone it runs fine on LPG as I don't think I had made that clear.

It's a VW KS2 carb. I've tried to find - with no luck at all, a rebuild kit for it, as it needs a new accelerator pump diaphram. When it's on gas it doesn't need it so runs fine.

From what I can find, it was standard fit on the Citigolf in South Africa, but not something I can easily get hold of.

I had a 1983 one of these in the late 80's and kept it for about 8 years. Absolutely fantastic motors. Mine was the 2.2 5 cyl 100 CS and I loved every minute of owning it. To pick up on a point from the original sale thread the saloons (which mine was) were, indeed, the most aerodynamic car of its time. They pretty much pioneered flush windows and gutterless roofs and they were quite avant garde in their day (avant....see what I did there?.......) They boasted a drag coefficxient of 0.3 which they proudly boasted in their rear quaterlights.

Glad to see you have plenty of spare door handles 'cos I used to get through them like nobodies business. You have to keep them well lubed or they will snap. (later facelift cars changed the design of the door handles but also had characterless interiors) Power steering racks and pumps were also a bit fragile and, as the power steering fluid also powers the assistance for the brakes it's quite important to keep it topped up.

I miss mine though, a lovely pale green metalic beasty on a Y plate with the most glorious noise when you booted it.......

I really can't remember what type of carb this Audi has, but I do have a picture of the car it came from, if that helps...

And this is a poor shot of the carb itself..

It's definately the above, as I've looked at it. I tried all my usual VW/Audi Specialists, and some carb ones - who are few and far between these days. And no one can supply any parts for it.

Does the service kit not contain the diaphram?

But it's not a Pierburg carb.

Autodata also lists a Keihin Model I for that car (the 80 in the scrappy). Possible alternative?

The KS2 is a Keihin isn't it?

Yes thats the fella, Although Keihin only seem to do bike carbs these days - on their website anyway.

Does anyone know of a carb specialist who would stock these bits? I've drawn a blank so far, in fact just been rummaging through a massive pile of old VW/Audi Carbs at my local VW Breakers to no avail

Will give them a go, thanks. Volksy thinks he might have found some bits today but I can try them too. Fingers crossed. At the rate he is helping me out at the mo I am pretty much going to have to buy him a small brewery to pay him back, as that is probably cheaper than supporting the pub next to his house which I am currently doing.
