A car on a ferry unaccompanied. Possible?

Evening Shiters.

The car: Citroen Xantia V6

The location: Holyhead (right by the docks)

The problem: I'm on a different island.

Perfect opportunity to add another gas guzzling Frenchy to the collection but it just works out too expensive to do the whole fly over, train, boat thing.

There is a commercial ferry going between Holyhead and Dublin which is just perfect, but I'm not sure whether a car can be loaded on then taken off by someone else at the other end?

Has anybody any experience of shipping cars between Ireland and the mainland?

Thanks

I've done it between Jersey and the UK, and vise versa, without problems, so it shouldn't be an issue, as it's fairly common shipping practice

Yup. Chap in this month's PC did it. He actually offered to get the boat over but the company said they'd load it, no probs!

Good stuff. I held off from calling them as I presumed I'd get laughed at, but knowing someone else has done it....

Will update as necessary. Cheers :D

As a yardstick, nvd.ie charge €250+VAT for delivery from anywhere in the UK to Dublin.

Obv you don't want to pay that much as you're getting on towards what you paid for the car... Could be worth trying to haggle them down seeing as the car's in Holyhead already. :P

Wouldn't it be handier to get the car to Liverpool and hop on the ferry straight to Belfast? Fly over on a 10 quid flight and jobs a good un.
