Hi Guys, just came across this on ebay as they were advertising the info.

I really fancy it.

If can get the 900e finished.

iTS A RALLY BIT LIKE THE Z BALL RALLY FOR BANGERS.

Charity event running from Blackpool to Benidorm.

I thought id share it here as its fun and charity raising.

Please take a look

www.benidormorbust.co.uk

I may be interested in this, ill work out some fuel costs, but i think can raise fuel money etc by selling adverts on your car.

Enjoy

:P

Someone on Retro rides is doing this in a newish Fiat Cinquecento, It's really challenging doing 1500 miles in a 14 year old Fiat.

Sounds really zany and cool. Why not do it in an Allegro 3 and then crush it?

BEST CAR PRIZE

ALL CARS ENTERING THE BEST CAR PRIZE MUST BE OLDER THAN 01/01/2000 TO WIN. ALL CARS NEWER THAN THIS WILL NOT BE JUGDED FOR THE PRIZE, BUT CAN COMPETE IN THE RALLY.

So over 12 years old then. Scary..............

You don't have to start from Blackpool though and can just meet at Dover. Phew, that'd save a bit of distance in such an 'old' car.

There are plenty of these about and dead popular with students - often with a premise of buying a sub £300 car, giving it the Westwood treatment then scrapping it somewhere in Eastern Europe. However, people realise these cars actually have 1000s of miles left in them and usually drive them home after. A friend of mine did Czech wrecks in his Herald a couple of years ago, this Maestro on that trip made me smile:

Some friends of mine recently drove to Morocco and back, in Land Rovers, and the youngest of those vehicles was only 37...... Seems to me that modern vehicles are just not as durable.... Could someone not do something REALLY zany and use a SMART CAR?

Oh. I think I did Blackpool to Benidorm once in the summer of 2003...

I was working in Blackpool during the week and staying in digs. I left Blackpool on Friday afternoon and went back home to North Lincolnshire. It was very hot at the time. I remember the Saturday was the start of the football seaon and we had Sunderland at home at 5.35 pm (I googled it. It was the 9th August. We beat them 2- nil - Marlon Harewood and Matthieu Louis-Jean...). Anyway, I then drove down to Plymouth on the Sunday (Charity Shield on the radio - Man Utd v Arsenal , 1-1 ) . Stayed in a B&B and drove on to the ferry to Santander on Monday morning. Left Plymouth 9AM, was off the ferry at Santander by 8.30AM on Tuesday. Drove straight on and stopped at Madrid at midday. Set off at 1PM and arrived at Montaverner at 6pm were friends had already established and I turned up, to most of their surprise....

Thing is, I did actually make it the further 20 mile or so over the mountains to Benidorm in the week. We went to Aqualandia. Less than a day in Benidorm was more the enough. Horrible place. :x:x

And my transport for this 'escapade'...

It was a then 10 year old Fiat Tipo, which was my daily driver, of which I had no qualms about driving across Spain in....

I obviously came back in it. But with a boot full of beer and wine, because everybody bought their quota of booze to put in my car even though they were flying...lucklily nobody checked at Plymouth as I reckon I was seven times over allowed....

i recn the 126 would be fine onpetrol as i went to llandudno and back on less than 20 quid, was 20 each way when i had the bongo.

But i dont know about long distance and potential overheating as its aircooled.

Would be a laff tho.

If times an issue i recon the banger and leaving it in beni is an option, luckily i know a few people in Beni so may just give it away or auction it off in the pub, lol

Then fly home, :D

They are doing it over 4 days so it shouldnt be to stressful f the car, but you have too watch the toll roads, worth confirming if the 185 covers toll road costs if they htting them as this bumps the cost up
