Once that's done and I've finished the polishing and tidying, it might be for sale. Queue here! :D

I shall look forward to that.

Great job there, Nova looks spot on. Loving the shiny boot floor!

I find Turtle Wax Tyre dressing is ace on bumpers as well as tyres!

Have to agree, the original Nova seats look loads better and I find Corsa seats have crap padding around the lower back area. Your ones look loads better than mine though. Cavalier or Calibra seats should bolt straight and at least then what you lose in originality you will gain in increased comfort.

Those Corsa seats being velor would have come from a plusher trim level car;they look like CDX spec ones so should be fairly on par with the already uncomfortable on a long journey Nova spec ones.I can only tollerate my Nova for a couple of hours before I have to get out and move about

I think I've got my answer then! I had a nagging feeling the Corsa seat covers, while nice and plush, just weren't right. Doesn't look like they match the Luxe seats either. I'll do my best to clean up the originals and if I can get them looking presentable I'll put them back on. Given that the rest of the car is so original, it makes sense.

Comfort-wise there's nothing in it, the foam pads and seat frames are identical between Nova and Corsa - I will however keep the newer Corsa foam in the front seats as the originals are very worn and saggy, the Corsa's are firmer but it's never going to be a comfortable motorway cruiser, there's little support.

I'm impressed with the linseed oil results too, might have to try that! The peanut butter's working but it really does stink and takes a lot of rubbing in.

Cheers for the support guys, it's nice to have such positive feedback from people who really know what they're talking about. I had the bill for the welding today - suffice to say I hardly dared look at it but it was predictably high! Never mind, it's well worth it.

Is it me or are Novas starting to catch on again? I've noticed a few minters on ebay doing very well, there was a really original early GTE on there recently making over 2k.

They're going through that phase some cars do of being bought by people who had them 'back in the day' and remember them with fondness. I suspect stuff like Saxos and the like will follow suit as these sort of motors were usually first cars, so bring back fond memories.

Also nature and knobheadery culled the rubbish ones off, either rust or glued on bodykits probably bombed a few out so decent ones are starting to slowly get harder to find.

I've been told by a Nova racer that decent 5 door 'original' models are getting more desirable for people who want to show them as now appreciating classics, and the days of buggering about with Nova's is slowly fizzing out,and moving more towards either pure standard,or the stelth spec - big engine inside, yet pure standard outside

They cleaned up reasonably well considering they've been exposed to the sun and a variety of arses for 24 years. Passenger seat cover is in the wash at the moment. I really liked the plush Corsa CDX covers but they just weren't right. I doubt there'll be any takers but anyone want them? No rips, tears or burns, seems a shame to throw them out. The metal seat frames will be scrapped but the covers and foam are available if anyone wants to upgrade their own. Rear squab is a whole unit (no metal frame).

Also started filling the welding repair and painting the scruffy wheels. Oh, and thanks for the linseed oil tip for the bumpers, worked a treat!
