Anyone fancy some economical shite?

1983 Maestro HLE

72k Miles

Tax - 31st July 2012

MOT - March 2013

some photos are here, although I will upload more later.

http://www.maestro.org.uk/forums/album.php?albumid=310

Oporto Red, with Shetland Tweed interior.

although I have listed some issues below, cosmetically she is in good condition

The Front bumper, - this is the main problem, a new bumper was purchased last year and rattle canned. it has not lasted well, and the paint is now flaking off

Drivers door pocket is missing

Rear bumper has a blemish

filler cap does not lock.

Some of the Heater decals were partially scrubbed off by an over enthusiastic valeter last year

There is no surface rust apparent on the car in any of the usual places.

Mechanically she is great for a 30 year old car and a testament to its former keeper, who fastidiously kept a handwritten record of all work done to her since new to 2010 and was garaged always. drives well, and puts the other maestros I have to shame,

she returned 50.1 MPG on a round trip of 300 miles last year., lovely smooth idle

At chassis number 5270 she is currently the lowest number known to the owners club, although there is one i am aware of with an earlier registration date at the DVLA.

Original Sales invoice, Original V5, Hand written service records, Wax Treatment Certificate (from new).

I have laminated these, to keep them in good shape.

With so much paperwork, being in good mechanical condition and with the extra bonus of being possibly the earliest Maestro left in existance, she is worth every penny.

Please feel free to come look the car over, always happy to have cup of tea and a chat with fellow enthusiasts.

edit: over the last few days it seems to have developed a slight hesitation under load for the first couple of minutes after starting. but clears up quickly

PM me if you want to get in touch

I try to avoid posting on car for sale threads on the grounds that I have nothing useful to say and it only adds to the sellers frustration to see a reply but not an actual offer of sale....

BUT Jaysus H Corbett on a Moped, I am filled with unholy lust for that.

But i have no money spare :(

GLWTS.

Wow, that brings back memories......

I had a brand new one as a company car, an A reg in exactly the same colour/trim combo....but a 1.6 HLS....

This isn't Oporto red though, is it?....Wasn't Oporto a slightly darker metallic?

This is monza red, HLS eh? v. posh :)

Indeed, it was very posh........the year after, though, the company bought a load of Moonraker blue 1.6L's . The range had seen a bit of an upgarde during the year and the new L's were nicer inside than my old HLS (fabric door cards and all that stuff)

very fond memories of them and if I had unlimited funds for unlimited cars, I would have another.......

If I wasn't dreaming,I'm sure this just drove past me on the way home. Can't be many maestros left on the road in that colour.
