Am I legal A framing a Talbot Samba no t&t with my Polonez?

I realise that probably everyone here has more cars than storage and that asking is likely futile. But!

Does anyone have any land where I could stash a couple of cars long term?

Thanks

Should maybe have put this in the stupid question amnesty.

Hi Edd!

Long term, how long term?

Land? I presume then that you won't mind too much if the floor becomes as one with the weeds?

I'm just the other side of The Dales by the way.

Have sent you a PM but it doesn't seem to have worked. It is in my outbox but not sent messages?? :/

Anyhow, no it really doesn't matter about weeds, I mean I'd happily pop over to Malham once a month just to weed the car. It's such a rare beast and an offer I can't miss.

If 12 months is too long any months would be a huge help while I found somwhere longer term.

I often come back to Malham, it's a beautiful place. The last time I went I took the wrong roundabout after Skipton, one too soon and ended up in the wrong valley. I was in the Samba roof down with my Mum and Stepdad. I tried to take a gravel track 10 miles over the moors but it soon turned to boulders and the Samba it turns out is quite capable off road, but mum was not happy. At all! So I turned back and found a road

Edd, the pm stays in the outbox until I read it. I went to bed after I posted last night.

You could very well have been to my place already! The road turns to a dirt track outside our house, as you're heading north! At the weekends, we have people wandering up in their cars, hitting the brakes as the tarmac disappears, struggling to turn around, then coming back down looking all sheepish.

The land and buildings belong to my parents - I rent a house off them and use a shed or two for my tat. I try to keep it tidy, but they do complain about the 'scrap' cars lying about.

To be honest, I think we'd better clear out a space under cover, and stash a car in there, and negotiate a small monthly rent with my folks. They have been stung in the past with offering storage for free to some local people, then being stuck with a barn full of junk.

It would also help if the car could be made to run and drive if we needed to move it. Much easier than messing about with the tractor - which may or may not start!

Do you have the car yet? Deal done? When it is, I'll have a word.

PS, have A-frame and Samara tow car! (Can borrow a Forester S-Turbo if the Lada sounds scary!)

It doesn't run, also it's not a done deal but I'm negotiating. It would be my first job to get it going upon taking delivery. PM sent again! Thanks Joe!

In principal, my Father (you might have seen him at Chodley) has agreed to rent out a dry corner of the bottom barn, we can clear a way in easy enough.

He'd be happy if you came each month or three with pound notes to pay in advance. If he wanted to start work on the barn - putting windows etc in - he'll give you plenty of notice.

As I said, it would be great if it ran, and I can look after a battery for you if you invest in a £10 ebay solar cell to help preserve it. A dust sheet would be a good idea too.

What's the going rate for lock-ups? £10 - £20 per month?

I've been offered a Samba for free, just have to get it home. It has no tax or test. My question is Am I legal A framing a Talbot Samba no t&t with my Polonez?

I have driving other cars on my insurance so as long as I dont own the car I can drive it leagal, if I book it in for test etc.

I'm just not sure my cheapest option. Its in northampton, I'm in North Yorkshire.

(Joe dont worry this one is staying at my house)

IIRC the car being towed has to be road legal if it remains on all 4 wheels whilst being dollied. The other style of dolly which enables 2 wheels to be off the ground are fine. Does that make sense?

Cheers

Ken's right.

Am I right in thinking that the Polonez does 25mpg on its own and probably less when towing? That's roughly 320 miles round-trip minimum too, so think 14-16 gallons @ £6 a gallon - £100 or so? Factor in the a-frame tug-factor and Shiply begins to look very good.

Aye! - That's a £150 job on Shitly with a zero percentage chance of VOSA bumming you into next week. I know what I'd be doing!
