i just saw this on aljazeera news that a company (terrafugia) has made a small flying car, it looks like a smart car with wings which when in car mode fold away.

so for $275,000 dollars you can jump in the car and go to the nearest airport, unfold the wings, take off.

 

it's at the new york motorshow and 10 people have paid the 10k deposit to order a car

To be fair you not exactly gonna hit parked cars or get hit at a junction by a whitevan/BMW driver, the worst you'll probably hit is a passing bird/seagull/parachutist/handglider. Mind you they can make a bit of mess I suppose.

thanks Volksy, the aerocar was the one I remember from when I was about 10, I wanted one badly then but looking at the vid they were a bit flawed. But one just parked up in the garage and now worth millions..I should have put all my 10 years experience into telling my dad what a good investment one was
