Living the dream

I couldn't put air into the tyres as the wheels are so rotten.

That's what I like to see...ambition!

Believe me I tried :)

I will be interested to see how this goes once you start stabbing away at it. Good luck

...so I can get it in from the rain.

Yeah, wouldn't want to risk it going rusty, would you!

Top save, I'm off to buy shares in in a MIG wire company.

God Ben -I wish you luck with that.

I hope you mean the tyres- not the wheels.... its 4x98pcd so any old Fiat/Lancia/Alfa will fit -short term (offset may be wrong if they were fwd). If the engines free- crank it inside slowly on the starter motor in 1st gear -taking lots of breaks to preserve the battery & s/motor..you can get a suprising dfistance if you bide your time.

That rot by the screen looks serious- before you commit to a weldathon get the wing off & see whats behind. If anything.. Broken hinge on the tailgate happened to mine too -bugger to repair.

There is a Caro for sale in classic car weekly for £450. It has tax until the end of April and has a few months mot. Also comes witha van load of spares, No it's not mine before anyone asks :D

It has a few rough patches but is basically sound. Here are some photos if anyone is interested.

Yes was very interested as it goes!! :D She now sits on my drive, I'm proud to say. She has a few "issues", not least of which is she's not actually running at present, but compared to Benno's pick-up she's immaculate :D

Excellent news mate, look foward to seeing some more photos. Glad it has gone to a good home :)

I realise I probably didn't make too much sense with the wheels, tyres. Basically when you put air into tyres they don't inflate because the middle of the wheels have rotted.

Thanks Nigel, once it's in the dry it will be getting stripped down before I do anything else.

I'm going to dangle my wang right over the Spong mincer and say that looks like it might be a fuggin winner! OK the screen and dash will have to come out to fix that rot but it looks supa straight and unmolested! Look at that tailgate!!!

I've very much looking forward to this resto getting under way.

Love the 125p badge fixed on with Phillips screws, by the way!

Two saves in one thread! Autoshite gold, I suggest. These men deserve medals, or at least a hug from Marina!:lol:

Don't know how I missed this thread earlier.

That is a gloriously shite acquisition. That's AS porn you have there.

Have this for inspiration.

Haven't done a lot so far Mr. B, just been collecting parts. I got two new front wings for it, two new part a pillar/scuttle panels, new starter motor, new plugs, leads etc.

I have a new front valance and some new doors on the way for it.

Oh yeah and some new wheels so I could move it!

That's about it. Here it is in it's current resting place.

This is not mine it's a mates. Another mate was going to guy it but has changed his mind. Its a 1500 petrol. The bottom end is knocking but comes with a spare engine. Its in the west midlands and its £550. No Mot or tax, its a bit rough around the edges but I don't think it would need much for an mot.

It's been on the blue forum and three was no interest so I thought I would pop it up on here before it goes back into long term storage

I'm considering parting with this as I've found a Polonez I would like in my life but I only have room for three cars.

Yes the doors are a bit tatty but its good underneath. Paint is dull and needs a good t-cut. It doesn't bother me as I like it the way it is being a working vehicle etc. 44k, tax till 31st December and Mot until end of October. Just replaced the front wheel bearings which were getting a little noisy and the oil in the reaf diff. It has a crack in the windscreen but I have a replacement screen you can take away with it. Pug xud 1.9 diesel.

Would like £650, yes I know there is one on the ebay thread for £550 but it is not as good as it looks in the photos and the rear bed is rusty as hell.

I paid £750 for it about two years ago, I spent around £250 fixing a fuel supply problem just after I got and £400 putting it through the mot and service last year.

It has spent most of its life under cover as it belonged to a birmingham pump company and they kept it parked in the factory when it wasn't in use. It was only used to deliver and pick up pumps from around the west midlands hence the low mileage. Also comes with some tasteful fso trims and some spare nos rear light clusters. I'm in Rutland (East Midlands).

The company sold it to me because they were getting embarrased doing deliveries in it. They replaced it with some "awesome" Nissan panel van :?

I'm not desperate to sell so I haven't gone anywhere near ebay or the like with it. If you want to know anymore about the Caro or the Caro truck send me a message.

What's the legal payload? Any future rot spots to keep an eye on? Would you hang on for it until I can raise funds by selling a kidney/mugging a Granny? Could you move further away so I can use the age old excuse of "Oh, I'd have it if it weren't so far away" Etc..... I LOVE this. I miss my old F plater Pick up... "The Batmobile" Was red, brush painted black by a previous "owner", and left to die in a field. I rescued it. Then swapped it for a Capri, or maybe an Escort Mk3 1.6S. F68LTL, sorry for abandoning you.

1000kg including the driver.

Worst spots are either side of bottom of windscreen which I would sort when you replace the screen.

Thats probably the worst of it, there are other patches of rust and the odd bubble hear and there but its not that bad.

As for waiting, if I wait too long I'll probably change my mind about selling it. I'm only considering selling it to save another FSO so if I don't sell it I'll just keep this.

Anyone is welcome to come and take a look.
