Peugeot 405 Pick-Up (RWD)

Try not to soil yourselves! Not yet... This could be, and I emphasis again, could be the latest creation from IranKhodro's stable!... The details are sketchy at the moment.

 

What we got here? It is a 405 pick-up as you can see, but with the Paykan underpinnings!... (Fuel Injected Hillman Avenger 1.6L Engine, with I believe an Argentinian 4-speed box)I mean on paper this could be just about being an "Autoshite Wet-Dream", but I can grantee it for you, it is is a proper Shite!!!...

 

Due to recent pressures on GM/PSA Peugeot Citroen alliance about the PSA's dealings with Iran, it looks like that Peugeot is not going to send any more bits to Iran, we have to wait and see how IranKhodro is going to handle the situation; they are building a lot of different Peugeot over there!...

 

It is basically the pick up version of the the Peugeot 405 ROA

Although that car does look pretty interesting, what a shame that Peugeot's been forced into this position.

 

Wonder how long it'll be after this embargo until Renault, VW, Ford etc capitalise on PSA's forced semi-withdrawal from the Middle East's biggest car market? Woo conspiracy theories!

Could Khodro not pick up (har-de-har) some components from the Chinese? To be honest, the Chinese could probly 'back door deal' them most of the stuff they're using anyway. So say if Renault or Peugeot (or Tata or Isuzu or...x)'s Chinese operation happened to supply the gear to Iran, it would be 'off the books' as far as Europe and the USA were concerned?

Still, if you've got the balls (or a death wish), there's the tat-collection trip to end them all right here: nip into Iran for a 405 pickup, then stroll down to Nigeria(?) for a 504 pickup, drive back to Morocco, get the ferry to Spain, up thro' France, brave the catering on the Cross-Channel ferry of choice, and arrive home. Do write up for Autoshite. Win.
