tooSavvy Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 Just looked in on the POC-UK site. Guy trying to offload a Yreg WIRA saloon, with MOT, 'spares'. He is open to £100 'take it away[please!]'.... Some wit has chipped in 'Scrappy man take it away for £100!' Anyone want the scrappys phone number?? lolz TS
stripped fred Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 I had a 1.5MPi and thought it was quite fast. My mates used to laugh at it (and call me Proton knob), but one of my mates said the 1.5 goes like a 'wet wank'. Not sure if this expression was used to describe a quite fast car, or he was just mocking it.I think here your mates represent the general population who think all old cars, and paticularly something such as a proton, are shit. We have the last laugh though as we drive something that bit different. We don't follow the herd and fork out for an expensive finance deal just to conform. We drive something with character, something that admittedly may need fettling at times but at least it's a bit interesting. This article charts the rise and fall of Proton and none other than Chris Goffey was a fan! http://petrolblog.com/2013/05/old-gold-top-gear-proton-mpi/
robinmasters Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 Chris Goffey really had a thing about hazard warning light switches; seems to mention them in every review, and if it isn't a big, red obvious button right under your nose that's a big black mark against the car. More relevant than how fast a family salon car goes round the Nurburgring though I suppose. Lacquer Peel and HillmanImp 2

eddyramrod Posted February 5 Posted February 5 The red one in Barrow has now appeared on Facebook at £600. Apparently it has a new carb which has rendered it a non-runner... No, it's not close enough to push round to mine! lesapandre 1
