Not a great deal of note this month.  Kicked things off with a project Golf.

My super slow camera failed to capture the magnificence of this Mk2 Mondeo with intact bumpers.  I've seen it again since but never when a camera has been to hand.

October

I'm unlikely to spot anything else this month so I'm going to do the picture dump a little early.  October has been better for spots.  First spot was a sad one though in the form of this Honda Civic Hondamatic which has always looked tidy and careworn.  This day, the doors were all stoved in, one rear bumper corner was missing and the front passenger door window was smashed.  Didn't look like an accident, looked more like someone had maliciously gone around the car and done a lot of damage for some reason.  Quite sad to see considering how long and how well it's survived.

It's not a 1994 Jag, not on that body shape.  Is it?  No, must be a personal plate transferred from another car, surely.  Anyway, there was a metallic green T rex on the dashboard and I totally failed to see the driver sat in the car when I very obviously took a photograph.  Rookie error on my part.

LDV 400 with VW fibreglass top grafted on.  This was about the same size as my bungalow and probably had the same sort of fuel economy.

Nice.  Meanwhile, somewhere else in the country a friend of mine spotted this early R8 assuming I'd be interested in it, which I am.  I don't know if the smoked rear lights are an anachronism or an option for the GSi trim level, either way they suit the car better than the orange indicators would.

Potentially the spot of the year has to be this Vespa 400.  We stopped to see if assistance was required, but it wasn't.  He was having a sticky idle issue, or something of that sort, and was just trying to get it to not be sticky.

January 2018

Had to stop off at the Imperial War Museum since there were no services to make use of or safe spots to pull over for a crafty wee.  Just as well really, otherwise I wouldn't have seen this fantastic old tank.

This Beetle seemed quite unassuming at the time, just a regular old Beetle to look at.  Then some anoraks appeared and pointed out it's potentially a South African import  because of the number of wheel nuts and windscreen type.  I don't know, I just liked it.

Your army 'Land Rovers' are actually Pinzgauers, designed and built in Junkmanland.

I thought they were forward controls when I saw them.  I keep forgetting they use Pinzgauers.

All the FC Landies are long gone now AFAIK. The Pinzgauer is the logical successor and looks pretty similar so it's easy to mistake one for the other.

Hey it's March!  That means it's time to dump all the things I saw in February in here doesn't it?  Let's go then.  First up, what I'm told is most likely a Nissan Silvia import.  The big exhaust and slabby bodykit worked really well on this, there's not many cars that can pull that kind of look off.

Join me as my latest foray into modern media sees No Expense Spent Studios creating the monthly (probably) Triple S, a series devoted to low quality snapshots and mumblings about Survivors, Sports Cars and Stuff, edited just enough to explain what's happening.  In line with NESS other productions, quality has been economically low so you don't have to pay to view.

Supplementary static shots captured with antique phone-camera updates will still happen alongside this new venture for as long as we remember, or we get bored, or the tech breaks and there's no money to replace it.  Enjoy!  Or don't!

Almost everything I saw in June was while I was behind the wheel, which is why the video above is just over 20 minutes long.  Here's the stuff I saw when I wasn't driving.

Fiat Seicento 2Tone, a special edition, not a scrapyard special.  Deserves two shots, because this is the only one I've ever seen in the wild and given how often I see it, I reckon its someone's daily driver too.

Sadly, this thread has been decimated because of the Great Fires of Photobucket and Flickr and I've not really been spotting anything of note since my last posting here, at least not while I've had the camera handy.  Also, my dashcam shat itself so I got rid of it because it was faff and the money was more useful than the little camcorder I was using it as.  I really need to update my tech with something a bit less knackered, but what I've got does the job for now.

I spotted a couple of things today, a lovely old SAAB that I've seen about regularly, and a very shiny 90s Mercedes estate in burgundy that I've not seen before.  The ancient two-tone Vauxhall is still a somewhat regular spot too, chugging about, brightening up the scenery.  There was an orangey Fiat 500 at Tesco earlier in the year, a two-tone fox-body Mustang more recently, and an absolutely spotless metallic green 80s BMW saloon most recently of all.  Today, I spotted another German marvel at Morrisons.  unmolested 2 door Golfs are a rarity and this one was in very nice condition and still sporting the hubcaps that so often seem to be missing.

I have to say, there's barely been anything worth papping of late that I haven't already papped multiple times.  Sad really.  That's why this thread has been so quiet for so many months.

One from January this year, I've seen it a few times since.  Judging by the noise and the way it handles a corner, I suspect it's had a little more done to it than just some stickers and nice gold wheels.  I had been hoping for a better picture of it but this is the only time I've ever seen it stood still for long enough.

201901-01.thumb.jpg.3c58329364ecf4e707ad3b03509f504c.jpg

Nothing then until March, when I spotted this surprisingly clean and tidy floppy Escort.

201903-01.thumb.jpg.6c46258aff8a5e78d650fe67fa71dcdf.jpg

Behind whatever that blue modern thing is in front of the trolley cave, there's a big old brown Mercedes sticking its nose out.  Meant to get a better photo, didn't get chance.

201903-02.thumb.jpg.46d9d14d7560128d34e1932543889cc1.jpg

Nothing then until April.  Just passed the MoT in the BX and was parked at the Post Orifice getting the tax sorted and spotted this modified Minor.  Had the look of a car that was first done in the 90s and periodically updated by the long-term owner, in a good way.

201904-01.thumb.jpg.9a3c284d5fd4b1649d02a281f56193bb.jpg

June, and it's this Vauxhall Omega Elite.  Not seen an Omega in the real world for what must be years and it was nice to see one in an actual colour rather than just another silver one.

201906-01.thumb.jpg.a750d0118860a732547112e45832ec1d.jpg

The other interesting old red car was this Austin.  I suspect this is the same one I got on dashcam when I had one.  A little later in June I also spotted a green-with-black-wings tourer, slightly larger than this and newer looking, I'm guessing it was a Fourteen or Sixteen  a Ten seems more likely, having done an internet on it, where this one I think is a Seven.

201906-01.thumb.jpg.f796534d7878585e9813e4e3bf6dae93.jpg

I'm afraid that's it.  I haven't even seen that much when I've been driving apart from the regular Mk2 Cavalier saloon, Vauxhall Victor saloon, and the two Volvo 240 (one early, one late) estates.  It's like all the interesting old rammel has just vanished.

It's not often you see a Fiat Ulysse, so this towering mobile residence, a symphony in beige, brightened up an otherwise humdrum day.

Tescos car park has been pretty good for spots lately, just not while I've had camera in hand.  The other day I spotted a Ford Orion in varicose vein blue when I was on my way over and on more recent trips there I've also seen that red MG A again, an LDV Convoy fire engine that was in service with the Highlands and Islands fire service of West Scotland until 2007 (owner appeared as I was attempting to park and doing a terrible job of it), a spotless bright red Mk3 Ford Cortina GXL with black vinyl roof, and that satin black Chrysler Neon with LPG that was documented earlier in the thread.  Today I spotted a pineapple Beetle.  It actually looked pretty good on the gigantic looking Porsche wheels, and sounded really nice too when it left.  Later model too, with the bullnose and the curved windscreen, so it carried off the mods better I think than if it had been an earlier shape with the flat screen.

Occasionally you see an old car and it's just right.  This Minor just looked right.  Not scruffy and neglected, not polished to within an inch of its life, just a tidy, slightly careworn example of an ordinary old car.  I see it about quite a bit, this is the first time I've ever been able to get a picture, I suspect it's the driver's ordinary everyday car and why not?  It does everything a car needs to do.

It has been a while, hasn't it?  Lots of stuff happened since the last update, including moving house, so spotting old rammel has been low priority.

Last item from September 2019 was this Skoda pick-up.

201909-02.thumb.jpg.639f522cbb3b415fe4a565cdb9b6ed24.jpg

And then I took no photos of anything until after moving into the new house in Kent.  The first thing I got a snap of was this Sprite*.  I'm moderately confident it's actually a reskinned rubber-bumper era MG Midget.

201912-01.thumb.jpg.1c04fdc74703be5909b4fe748269bff1.jpg

There's the ubiquitous red Peugeot 205, I wonder how long before these all completely disappear.

201912-02.thumb.jpg.6824b28137ccffdd622fc17b4268e8e6.jpg

This interesting Citroen Saxo Sport.  I say interesting because it looks like a factory bodykit and you hardly ever see Saxos on 3 stud wheels.

202001-01.thumb.jpg.0ecce0a169a9ceff0e88af0cb0467ea6.jpg

Then, most recently (and to bring us bang up to date) this very tidy Commer.

202002-01.thumb.jpg.508ee572166a6f0defe11545b2a2e779.jpg

I'm regularly seeing interesting old stuff about the place but I'm rarely in a position to get a snapshot.  The Commer is the first I've seen in the wild probably since the 90s, the only other ones I recall seeing were at shows, so that was a nice surprise.  In the same car park was a Suzuki Jimny pick-up which I didn't even know was a thing, a mk1 Suzuki Vitara, and a very clean mk1 Vauxhall Vectra, none of which I photographed so you'll just have to imagine those.  In fact, it's been tricky to get photographs of all the interesting guff I've seen because usually I'm driving when I see them, perhaps I should get another cheap dashcam for spotting purposes.  On second thoughts, maybe not, it was a right faff when I had one before since there's nowhere to hide the cables in either of my cars.

That would make sense.  It had enormous arch gaps which just made the whole thing look wrong, the wheels certainly didn't help with the illusion.  At least they didn't put it on black and silver plates.

Something glorious this way wafts.  Spotted on an emergency bread run, a 1951 Jaguar MkV drophead.  First time I'd ever seen one of these that I can recall, I'm more used to seeing them as a four door saloon.  The wedding industry rather spoils the impact of the colour which suited the car extremely well.  This is going to be a tough spot to beat this year.
