We weren't planning to visit this, but spotted it on the way back from the garden centre, so we popped in! The Rover Club were having a "day out" and the editor of "Practical Classics" was there, too! The website is: http://www.whitewebbsmuseum.co.uk

It's a small area, with just enough of a forecourt to park up about 50 cars, so you don't get overwhelmed with things. There's a cafe as well, so a decent cuppa's available, too.

We (that is SHMBO and myself) hope you like the pictures....

This was in the car park. The owner was impressed when I knew what it was! Apparently there are only 3 on the road in the U.K.

This Rover was great! I felt I'd stepped onto a "Sweeney" set!

Sometimes you forget these were Rovers....

The next 2 pictures were NOT part of the Rover Show; I LOVE this old Vauxhall!

I used to work for a "Jet" petrol station, but our pumps weren't QUITE this old....

A second load taken from our visit to Whitewebbs Museum of Transport:

Starting with ANOTHER Renault... this time an Eight! I can't remember seeing one of these in 20 years! This one had been altered; lowered suspension & wider wheels. It's fab!

A "Green Godess" ready to go! I thought all of these had finally been scrapped!

A Bedford CF, signwriting shows it belonged to a local company.

Beige and a Marina-could one ask for more?

This early Morris Minor sported yellow headlights..... why?

All in all a great interlude to a day's gardening & shopping!

The Army got rid of them all a couple of years ago - but I think most were flogged off rather than scrapped.

Love the beige Marina by the way!

Sorry to be pedantic but that's a common misconception caused by the green paint. Goddesses were never owned by the army, although latterly crewed by soldiers they were civilian vehicles that belonged to the Home Office. Army fire tenders are red and they did have some similar to the GGs that became known as Red Goddesses.

Beige Marina is a win-mobile for sure - any museum with that an exhibit has to be worth a visit!

Thanks - I stand corrected...

Have a real military fire engine for your trouble!

^ Carmichael TACR2 - the ultimate Range Rover. I like it a lot.

IIRC most of the GGs were sold on to African countries such as Sierra Leone etc as they were in pretty good nick even if they are ancient... sort of a shame because I loved seeing them in the Fire mans strike even if they were comparatively useless!

The museum is a fab little place and I joined as a member a few months ago. There is a cracking little auto jumble shop in there that is always worth a rummage round.

Andrew if you had gone a day earlier you might have seen this:

Which has now been adopted by me and is in my garage awaiting restoration. It's gonna be fun getting hold of some seats!! However, I get to drive the car to shows and so on, so it's a win-win situation.

That Mini is really nice but it is starting to go again in the roof guttering areas. The beige Maraina will be put on ebay at some point soon as they are moving on about 4 cars so that they can have a different display.

My friend went to collect the MOD fire engine and was astounded as the MOD had kitted it out with new hoses, ladders, etc, before they took it away. The drive home was long and slow but good fun apparantly.

Was this guy the photographer?

I simply love the Renner 15 though.

..... CA not CF mode>

Good spots, I used to go there once a year for an autujumble in January, I particularly liked the drag bikes in the upstairs bit

Andrew, did you go in the 'shit' room there? Mountains of old car parts donated to the museum, all for sale and heaped together in the most random fashion. Worth going just for that!

I saw the Green Goddess back in January, it really is fantastic.

Ken, congratulations on the Mayflower 'acquisition'! Looks great :D

Yeah, it's a little Aladdins cave. You really do have to know what you are looking for though.

Thanks for that re: the Mayflower. The body isn't that bad, but the paint is bloody awful, it looks like it has been polished with many 80 sanding disks.

I've driven a "Green Godess".....bloody terrifying. Bedford RL chassis and mechanicals, with about eleventy million gallons of water sloshing about in the back. Cornering was best done at walking pace, although that wasn't far from top speed anyway!
