Rocket88 Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 what a stonking bit of kit the Rover 75 is. I am the proud possesor of the ex Dollywobbler / Minimad derv Tourer, and it's lovely. You come over all trilby and law abiding when behind the wheel, you find yourself letting people out of side turnings, and generally behaving in a James May "Christian motoring" type of way.......If evryone had one, road rage would be banished over night. Very strange......................................
Rocket88 Posted February 7, 2012 Author Posted February 7, 2012 I am indeed, hope the Herald is still bumbling along
dollywobbler Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 It's quite Merc-like in that regard. It is a superb chill-out machine. Got any pics of it now it's living a (smaller) island life?

Very strange...................................... I'll second that (being a new 75 owner too). I am starting to like the noise the KV6 makes above 4k rpm though; thankfully you still have plenty of time to enjoy it before you start to trouble any speed limits.
Shep Shepherd Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Now that the car is at Autoshite level, the 75 is oddly appealing to me
AnthonyG Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 All this is making me want another one now...
dollywobbler Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 To be honest, I'm not sure I want another one. Glad to have ticked the box, and it is very relaxing, but I hated the cocoon feeling when driving it. A typical modern in that regard with windows that feel too small and pillars that are too chunky. The Peugeot felt like a Toyota Sera by comparison.
Minimad5 Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 My view(s) on the 75 are as follows: Seats- God Damn comfortable ! , the only seats that i have been able to sit in for more than 30 minutes, and not had the urge to adjust myself or the seat (This was with lumber support fully off, so did feel like a sofa) Visability - Poor in respect of "shite" standards, but once you had driven it more then you get used to it and adjust accordingly Ride- Very good, infact i would go to say if not better than a friends BMW M5 for comfort (Lots will disagree, but personal opinion) The engine wasn't lighteningly quick, but with the rover ron tuning box (Which now i come to think of it Colin, i turned off - and may have left off, just to see the difference in acceleration) - yes with the Rover Ron tuning box was greatly improved. Just stupid things like the ECU being submerged in water if the Plenium Chambers are blocked, which really lets the 75 down. If i were to buy another, then it would most certainly be Diesel Anyway, just glad you're happy with it Colin. As for "HAROLD" the Herald, yup it had been plodding along nicely . Had to fix a small electrical gremlin or two and had a brief MOT inspection done, nothing "drastic" is needed just a small amount of welding with a fettle of the brakes, whilst fixing a wee fuel and oil leak. But as i say, nothing drastic - And yes i am very pleased with the car !
