The Autoshite Xmas Quiz

Ok peeps, here's the rules. When you answer a question you have to set the next one.

Question 1. On a Christmas theme.... When the ambassador threw his party in the famous Ferrero Rocher advert there was a classic piece of shite parked outside. What car was it? (No Youtubing!)

I keep thinking of a Mazzer BiTurbo, but get the awful feeling it was a Beige Rover 216 VDP.........!

Nope! It was a four door saloon though.

Not quite!

Not a Horsley Horseless either!

Chrysler Alpine?

Lol! Think type 4.

Probably nowhere near but I'll say Audi, probably a 200 or something like that.

Here's a clue. You can no longer buy this brand in the UK.

Lancia Thema?

Well done Rob!

Please set the next question.

Keeping the TV theme, this is probably too easy but all I can think of:

What shite is John Thaw seen driving in the first ever episode of Morse, 'The Dead of Jericho'? A Brucie Bonus if can recall the colour.

Was it a giffer spec Montego, in Autoshite brown?

Correct! Clove Brown (or Gusset Brown, can't tell the difference TBH).

Well done! The devil really does look after his own!

Wasn't sure of the colour TBH, just remember the 1st episode being on and my Dad had just bought a Montego 1.3 and thought its street cred must increase when John Thaw drove one, my sense of euphoria lasted all of 17 minutes.

Anyway, next question, the mid 90's Private Detective series Sharman featured Clive 'The Chancer) Owen in the title role of Nick Sharman, often seen on stake outs in various Yank shitemobiles, but what type of (European) snotter did he drive in the pilot episode?

(Thanks Warren, sometimes I think he must do!)

Posted

I'm sure he drove a Marlin Berlinetta in something.

Posted

No, a bit sportier and less classy (IMHO)

Posted

Total guess but an Alfa GTV would fit the bill.

Posted

Nope, the more exotic stuff came in the later episodes, give you a clue, it was a beat up 4 door saloon in blue which if memory serves was stolen at the start of episode one of the proper series, hence him borrowing all kinds of Yank stuff from his mate in the trade.

(In the interets of accuracy the sporty bit may have been a little misleading, I only meant sporty in comparison to a CX  )

Posted

Thought the 4 door bit may have ruled that out Wazza

extra clue that will probably give it away totally, think of Stoppo Driver and the ballpoint pen

Capri?

4 door? Unless you mean the star-studded ones?
