My brother is getting shot of his old poverty-spec Pug 205 – and, as I know there are a few lovers of such old French exotica on here, I said I’d post up some details on his behalf.

Here are the details of this ‘no frills’ motoring experience:

  • Peugeot 205 XE.
    1990 H-reg.
    945cc petrol engine.
    4 speed manual.
    Approx 70K miles.
    2 owners from new.
    Serviced regularly.
Front brake pads and front exhaust section recently changed.
No tax or MOT but runs and drives. Was last on the road a few weeks ago.
Coolant needs topping up periodically although there is no sign of a leak.
Various cosmetic damage – most notably a large dent in the driver’s door. Some surface rust where bodywork is damaged but fine underneath.
Tears in some of the seats.

He’s after £150ono.

As I say, it’s not my car but I’ll try to answer any questions as best I can. If anyone wants to speak to my brother about it then PM me and I’ll put you in touch.

Here are some pics…

Sorry, should have said - the car is in St Albans, just off the M25, north of London.

Go Will!

I have what I think is a good door to suit this, in what I think is the right white.

It's in North Yorkshire though, and I'm not back there 'til Feb.

That's 520 mile round trip from here though I'll bear it in mind :)

This could be my cheap transport salvation. Not greatly keen on using the Cortina in the salt, bikes are broken and the vans a tad juicy to use daily. Plus if the mrs falls for it we can get shot of the modern too.

These are 4 x 108 are they not? Have 5 slots mags in that flavour with GR11 condition Stomils on them :D

Well done Will....I was just thinking how much I would like to park this outside my spotty neighbours house with my growing collection of shonky shitroens and leaky scoobs

Shite-tastic. Just about unkillable these things!

Wise words softly spoken.

Ace little cars that just seem to plod on forever and the lack of frills is a real plus point.

I have to agree they do plod on forever, my XLD managed almost 500,000 miles before the body gave up, however its now in the process of being reborn. Yes they are basic, simple transport but today that means not a lot to go wrong, mine never let me down at the roadside always managing to limp home. :D

Soon to be rolling french peasant styley :) The Cortina's out of test and needs more mig action the more I look at it, driving through another salted road winter isn't going to help. Bikes are broken and the Transit is too juicy to use daily, despite enjoying the bicycle some days I just can't be arsed to pedal and besides I need little excuse to acquire a vehicle of this calibre.

Done a few miles round a local lorry training yard to test it out and first impressions lead me to believe it might last the winter which all I ask. Forgot how fun it is to drive a small light car.

I've given it a blast with the jet wash to show willing and wacked a tyre on today since we have a machine at work and a mate had one of the correct size. Front nearside headlight had a rusted bowl which was fixed with some 'chrome' spray paint, fluids checked and test booked for midday tomorrow.

Looks almost mint after a wash

Fingers crossed for an mot tomorrow.

And no doubt will be available for another Shiter when you've had your fun, Will? Jolly good, another one for the Pool Car thread... :D

Should imagine it'll be back up for grabs in the spring for some lucky punter as I'll want to back in new improved Cortina by then. Unless of course I manage to kill the unkillable or lose it in the snow or something
