I've been totally useless at getting spots recently but just resurrecting the thread briefly for this great double act, spotted yesterday...

Spent an enjoyable afternoon at the Cottered Village Fete in Hertfordshire today. Here are a few highlights amongst the millions of MGBs in the classic cars field. Sorry about the poor quality of some of the (phone) pics.

Not unusually, there were loads of Austin 7s, most of which looked the same. Except for this sport version

There were also loads of ADO 16s, including these two absolute stunners in Wolseley and VDP guise

This US-spec P6 was a bit of alright too

This rare Merc estate was more impressive from the back. I mistook it for a Volvo at first...

This one actually is a Volvo.

My favourite car seen today was this Sunbeam. I have decided I have to own one of these one day. Mrs W really doesn't see what the fuss is about but, then, that's girls for you.

She was a bit more taken by this one though, so I think we could come to a compromise

And here are some other nice lookers.

I'm in Edinburgh at the moment and spotted this wonderfully used-looking, towbar-sporting pog-pink Wolseley Wedge trundling down Lothian Road.

Anyone know it? Only caught a brief glimpse of the occupants but looked like a giffer couple...

Hell's teeth, you have just won at spotting.

I'm also respecting the bloke underneath the C15 van (next to the two tone Capri) that seems to be supported only by a hydraulic trolley jack.  That's nails, that is.

Yes, it's my C15 and that was an old boy from the local body shop who agreed to weld up its broken exhaust for £20. Nice bloke but maybe a little over-trusting of his tools!

Streuth that Wolzy is nice to see on the road....

Some random images from this weekend's Herts Steam and Country Show in St Albans.

A great event - definitely one to get in your diary for next year if you're down this way...

Sorry, there are a few more from the steam show that I didn't get time to upload at the weekend.

Starting with this horror, specially for all you 2CV fanciers.

The red Foden steam wagon belongs to my very good mate. Photo 9 from the top of the additions. That looks like his green living wagon behind it too.

They are really impressive machines, that one included.

Is that the bloke who also had that very early taxi?

They are bloody brilliant things, I l ove listening to them when they are just idling, all the hissing and small noises from various bits. It's really very therapeutic. Living steam, oh yeah!

The Panhard Levassor taxi isn't his (he wishes it was), sadly it belongs to a customer who has more money than sense. My mate is the one who did all the work to get it running and driving. The guy then had it fully 'restored' and thus ruining all of the patina. We'd have just had the rear seats re-done and the leather canopy and left the rest as it was. It was beautiful and to be honest I don't really want to see it now. Such a shame. My mate would have been the perfect custodian of it.

^^ I hate it when folk do this, it totally ruins  the concept of a preserved car.

I heard an excellent phrase recently (it may be old I don't know but it's new to me):

"A vehicle can be restored many times but it can only be original once"

I knew I had a picture of it somewhere... Here it is:

Do like that VX4/90. Back in the ‘80s I used to daydream about having one fitted with a V8. But, being slightly pedantic, is it a later model with an older ID? Something about the lights and spoiler making me think that…..

Yes, you could be right.

I'm no classic Vauxhall expert but, as far as I can tell from Googling, the earlier ones had this front end

...with the square headlamps coming in around 1976.

Agree with you that I would VERY much like one.
